I found this whilst picking litter on a beach in Inverbervie today. It’s obviously very old given the style of ring pull and 6 pack holder, but does anyone know how old??

  1. It’s hard to say without seeing a sea creature killed by it.

  2. Well done on the litter picking. Mad how the plastic doesn’t seem to have degraded whatsoever even after all this time on a beach.

  3. Post this to r/tartan an ask them to identify said tartan….

  4. Mid 80s.. I’ve got one of that design that I made into a pencil holder when I was about 17, which would put it around 1986-87ish

  5. That was a six pack when a planked it.

    Fecking Gourdon young team.

  6. 80s at the latest with that ring pull I’d guess.

I’m amazed the red printing hasn’t faded at all.

  7. It would be anywhere between 1962 ( start of pull off tabs) and 1990 (end of pull of tabs ) youngers never changed their can branding and still use the exact same branding to this day so would be impossible to get an exact date unless there is an expiry date on it. 🤷🏼‍♂️ cool find though OP

  8. A decisive old tactic when ring-fishing for Nessie was to leave a can of Youngers in as bait. I’d say this was early 20th century

  9. I once came across a pristine washing up liquid bottle in a field. The price was in shillings and pence. The field was once landfill and the bottle had been there happily for more than 45 years.

  10. Disappointingly, when you poured it into a glass, it was just brown, not tartan at all.
