Poland sidelined in Russia-Ukraine peace talks

  1. Poland was excluded from the ongoing Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Geneva at which Germany, France and the UK have played a role.

Representatives of the informal E3 group of France, Germany and the UK, as well as the European Union, the US and Ukraine met to discuss the 28-point peace plan for Ukraine proposed by Washington.

There was no place for Poland, though, despite it having acted as the hub for military and humanitarian aid for Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion in 2022.

That was commented on by opposition Conservative PiS MEP Adam Bielan.

“Prime Minister Donald Tusk boasts about Poland’s excellent position in Europe, [Deputy PM] Radosław Sikorski boasts that he enjoys an excellent position as foreign minister but when push comes to it, the leaders of four countries meet: Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom.

“Poland is absent,” he told commercial broadcaster Polsat News.

  2. Kaczyński wanted send Polish troops to Ukraine than he change his mind, Tusk had to deny that he wants send our troops, so from european side only countries who wants send troops talks with americans. Why anyone is suprised ? How much bigger arr E3 economies? And if PiS cries so loud can they give one example where E3 position on Ukraine is against Polish wishes ?

  3. That’s direct result of multiple politicians, from different sides, saying “we will support Ukraine no matter what” and similar, for years. There is nothing to discuss with us, cause we are not sane and sensible enough to make demands when some abstract “honour” is at stake. Had we actually treated this as a buisness relation that can be stopped at any time- maybe closed the road for convoy or two with support, at least for a while, refuse passagge for some particularly controversial politician – then maybe, just maybe, somebody would treat us as a player not a pawn.

  4. Poland is emerging as the biggest fool in this while ordeal

  5. Why would we? We have nothing to offer and no means to block it.

  6. “Biednemu zawsze wiatr w oczy i ch&j w dupę”

  7. Not sure what the problem is, apart from the usual Polish blame game utilized in internal politics.

The current “peace talks” look like Ukraine getting sold down the river. If everything we hear is to be believed Ukraine is being bent over the barrel and forced into a very bad arrangement.

Absolutely no point for Poland to be part of that, there are enough problems in Polish-Ukrainian history already and no need to create anymore, let Ukrainian nationalists bitch about Americans, Brits and Frenchies for the next couple decades for a change.

  8. What we could bring to the table? We don’t want to send troops and don’t have money and political power or resources to actually participate in asserting peace.

As much as it’s uncomfortable to hear, we are not a superpower and we can’t expect to be treated as such

  9. Forward operating base for Ukraine war is in Poland. Means all the arms/ammo/supplies go thru there. That also includes many other things. Why would you exclude Poland but bring in Italy? Wow, getting shafted again…

E* the trolls are in this sub harder then ever!

  10. Assuming Poland was invited, who would have shown up? Nawrocki, Tusk or Sikorski?
It would be amusing to see Nawrocki at one of these meetings.

  11. Either nothing’s gonna come out of this or Ukraine’s getting betrayed by the entire world

  12. Considering how not so long ago Germany was consistently getting in the way of Ukrainian counter offensive, their former chancellor Scholz delaying support, not delivering what he promised and in the end (in my opinion) playing a vital part in the counter offensive not working out to its full potential, whereas Poland was doing everything it could to arm the Ukrainian army and help in any way possible for them, considering all that it seems quite unfair it is left on the sidelines.

  13. Why would anyone sane in the world feel any need to talk with Poland when it has a german agent as Prime Minister?

Of course everybody don’t waste their time and are talking directly with German chancellor. It’s that simple.

  14. If Poland going to be willing to return Bielostock to Russia they are welcome to participate in the peace talks.

  15. Our true and tested strategy of sucking America off is working as intended, I see.

  16. Less parties involved  – the quicker the agreement.

  17. And…? Why they shouldnt be? They play no role in this conflict
