Ottawa: Sikh community members in Canada staged a protest outside the Indian High Commission against Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks on Pakistan, condemning what they called “dangerously revisionist” statements.

According to Kashmir Media Service, demonstrators raised slogans against the Modi government and in support of Khalistan. Sikh leaders addressing the crowd said that Singh should focus on India’s internal issues rather than making provocative statements about Pakistan’s Sindh province, warning that such rhetoric fuels regional tensions and harms prospects for peace.

The protesters, holding Pakistani and Khalistan flags, told the gathering that India’s human-rights violations, particularly in Punjab and other minority regions, should take priority over expansionist claims. Leaders also asserted that the Indian Punjab could one day separate and form an independent Khalistan state where all communities enjoy equal rights.

The demonstration highlighted the diaspora’s call for India to respect international borders and stop using foreign policy statements for domestic political purposes.
