Found this bag of Tayto Chipsticks in a house being renovated in Waterford, bag still fully intact. 17p was the orice and a quick Google search says they're from roughly the early 1990s

  1. They’re probably still edible as they had no food value in the first place. Bacteria wouldn’t know what to do wirh them.

I’d suggest you contact a museum though. Those have to be from the early 1980s. It’s been a very long time since you could buy anything for 17p.

  2. Word to the wise, if you ever find food which is priced in pennies then it’s best not to digest.

  3. Filthy dust even in date. They may taste no different, lol

  4. I’d say the vinegar off those would make your eyes water. God I miss those days.

  5. I’m old enough to remember paying 4p for a pack of cheese and onion Tayto and whilst I was only 5 or 6, I thought that was robbery…

  6. I’d love to know the weight on the back of the bag and is it full??

  7. Would be 37c in today’s money according to an inflation calculator 🥲

  8. Wow, childhood memories….. You just shot me back to summer holidays in Tramor. Memories that you never thought would pass you by again. From a bag of crisps…. Thanks

  9. If you didn’t have a drink with a packet of these you were fucked, they were unbelievably dry. I ate loads of them back in the day, God knows why, they weren’t a patch on tayto crisps.

  10. Used to buy these all the time. They really leaned into the vinegar 😂

  11. Chopsticks, like eating razors… didn’t stop me tho

  12. A childhood favourite of mine. How long are they off the market?
