Bitzero Holdings Inc, which specializes in sustainable blockchain and high-performance computing (HPC) data centers, has launched Phase I development of its planned 100-hectare giga-scale data center campus in Kokemäki, Finland.
In a press release Bitzero says Phase I will establish the initial power infrastructure required to begin operations. The campus is designed for a total capacity of 1 GW, powered by multiple renewable energy sources including hydroelectric, nuclear, solar and wind. This approach will enable large-scale green computing capabilities for AI, cloud services and Bitcoin mining.
Mohammed Bakhashwain, Bitzero’s President and CEO, said, “This site provides the space and power capacity we need to achieve our aggressive growth plans and deliver green compute power at scale, including the ability to host large, hyperscale AI, cloud and Bitcoin workloads.”
Kevin O’Leary, an early investor of Bitzero, said, “Unlike most competitors, Bitzero’s asset-first model is a rare competitive advantage that drives efficiency and scalability, backed by real assets and resources.”
The project takes advantage of Finland’s natural cold climate, which reduces cooling demand and improves energy efficiency key factors in the economics of high-performance computing.
Bitzero first acquired the Kokemäki property in January 2025 through its infrastructure-ownership strategy and will be the company’s largest data center campus. The company has already acquired 15 hectares of land for the project, and holds an option to purchase the remainder as future expansion progresses.
