EU unemployment rate. Finland has officially surpassed the 10 percent mark, making it the only country besides Spain with an unemployment rate at this level. As Spain’s figure remains stagnant, Finland is predicted to soon become the most unemployed country in Europe.

  1. Not to worry, let’s just keep outsourcing everything to Turkey, Bangladesh, and China. I’m sure the problem will fix itself.

  2. Why has Finland been stuck with High unemployment since the early 1990s? I understand why the situation was so bad back then, but why has it stubbornly remained this way? And even got worse.

  3. Keep cutting from mental health services further simultaneously, damn muppets 👹

  4. Our government says they have made great advances in the number of people available for work!

  5. That 10%, me included are not aged 20:ish, nor do we have 40 years of work experience employers are looking for.

  6. Finland’s numbers are also inaccurate. They don’t measure the number of unemployed people, they measure registered job seekers.

Many people are unemployed, but rather not deal with TE services, or whichever is now the municipal alternative.

  7. Maybe finlnad is mist honest about the real number. Country like France (my country) hide the real number by doesn’t counting a large segment of unemployed.

  8. A usual day on /Finland or /Suomi, “Now let’s bask some more in this misery!”

  9. At least we can now say the “aktiivimalli” that requires unemployed people to apply 4 jobs a month doesn’t really create jobs. Turns out it’s the lack of jobs that’s behind the unemployment! Who would have thought?

  10. What is really weird is that Finland has so much talented people, I think one issue is that Finland’s economy is a very closed one, exports are not so high and they have decreased the last 2 years, getting money from outside would be the only way to keep this economy growing if we are facing a recession internally.

  11. this is really sad. peoples lives are on hold as well as any sort of development in finance. perkele

  12. Are there any stastics on what the distribution on the unemployed are? For example, based on education, age, nationality etc.

  13. Fun fact: I moved from Spain to Finland due job situation. Of course I never found a job here . I started my own company with survival mode on. 🤣

What Finland needs right now is a leader who simply says: OK we will cut the public spending by 50% across the board.

The public sector in Finland takes like 60% of the GDP. Some “third world countries” like Switzerland and Ireland are able to get it done below 30%.

Public spending in Finland is the 2nd highest in Europe, only Ukraine spends more and not by a lot.

  15. Finland haven’t cared about their citizens for a long time. It neglected the needs of their own people, and all that matters is woke stuff. That’s all that people care about, if miss Finland had a headache doesn’t matter, just the gesture she made is what matters. The context is not important, what is important is to point fingers and say how evil and bad person you are. This has going on for over 15 years, no wonder no one is inspired to do anything for this country.

  16. Another statistic where we are number 1. Cant stop winning.

  17. Migri decided to deport a restaurant owner last week who employed 7 in less than a year!

Migri will do whatever it takes to make sure Finland is first for unemployment!

  18. Current goverment is a joke that doesn’t make you laugh and thanks to our new overlord, AI…the unemployment rate will just keep rising. It is time to admit that there’s no jobs to everybody and that we should have some kind of “citizen’s income”. But no politician will do that, ‘cos it would be political suicide…so, the status quo will remain and nothing changes for better.

  19. I’m sure there’s gonna be a growing resentment over the EU not helping with the economic situation at all. When Brexit caused some slight inconvinience to trade in Ireland, Netherlands etc. they got billions of euros in the BAR-package.

When Finland completely cut the trade with Russia we got nothing but increased military budget and a bunch of bankrupted hotels while countries like France and Belgium still continue to buy Russian gas.

  20. It has been known for ages that austerity policies during a recession only deepen and prolong it. But does our right-wing government ever believe any science? Nope. And here we fucking are.

  21. Here is another neat reminder that the ministry is always lying about unemployment forecasts to build confidence. They’re full of shit.

They forecast it would be 9.5% by the end of this year and will be rising rapidly until 2027…lol. here is their forecast.

  22. I don’t know where this graph comes from but here in Belgium, the unemployment is FAR higher than 6%…
That 6% number comes from people actively trying to find a job which is a number that the government is currently actively trying to suppress.
The actual unemployment rate is closer to 23-30% depending on which side of the language border you look.

  23. I’m sure a hedge fund or angel investor will save the country.

We should also encourage chuch of scientology and tech bros to move here away from prying eyes.Theyll bring lots of cash.

    Let’s gooooooo

  24. 10% unemployment (increasing), growing pension receivers, decreasing labor force, decreasing birth rates, and then welfare system on top of this? That’s recipe for disaster

  25. Bit offtopic, but is it germany thats 3.8? I have heard that its very weak economically and have unemployment issues.

  26. Are we the happiest country in the world, because we don’t have to work?
