Finland has confirmed it will take part in next year’s Eurovision Song Contest, despite the ongoing controversy surrounding Israel’s participation and the withdrawal announcements from several other countries.
Yle, Finland’s national broadcaster, stated that preparations for the country’s entry are moving forward as planned. The confirmation comes shortly after the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) officially allowed Israel to compete in the 2025 contest, a decision that has prompted boycotts from the Netherlands, Spain, Ireland and Slovenia.
While a number of broadcasters argued that the current geopolitical situation makes participation incompatible with their values, Yle has taken a different path. The Finnish broadcaster emphasized its commitment to the contest and indicated that it intends to uphold its role in the Eurovision community despite the growing tension surrounding next year’s edition.
With several withdrawals already reshaping the contest’s landscape, Finland’s decision to remain in the lineup stands out. Yle’s announcement positions the country among those choosing to proceed with Eurovision as scheduled, reinforcing its longstanding commitment to the event amid an increasingly complex political backdrop.
