Islamabad: Renowned Kashmiri leader and General Secretary of the “World Kashmir Awareness Forum” Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai has said that the Pahalgam incident was a nefarious plan orchestrated by the Modi government.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, talking to media representatives at a conference in Islamabad, said the main aim of Pahalgam incident was to portray the just struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination as terrorism and to present Pakistan as a terrorist country to the world.
He said due to Pakistan’s better strategy and wisdom, India’s nefarious intentions behind the Pahalgam incident were thwarted and the Modi government faced immense shame and humiliation all over the world.
He said in India, Congress leader and opposition leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, while raising a question in Parliament about the Pahalgam incident, asked Modi, “You had said that Pakistan was involved in it but no country condemned it and you surrendered on just a phone call. You (Modi) had also told us that after Article 370, the Kashmir dispute would end but now it has assumed more importance at the global level.”
Dr Fai said after the May Pak-India war, the world’s opinion about Pakistan has changed because it has taken a principled stance of seeking an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident by an international organization. He said this positive attitude of Pakistan has made the world aware that it cannot be involved in the Pahalgam incident.
He said that Kashmiri leaders Syed Ali Gilani Shaheed, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik and Masarat Alam Butt had been talking about the Kashmir dispute being a “nuclear flashpoint” for a long time. Later, President Trump also said the same thing and said, “I found Pakistan and India on the brink of nuclear war. The main reason for this is Kashmir and I am ready to mediate on it.”
Dr Fai said Pakistan has a good reputation in the world due to its fair and just stance on Kashmir. He said there is also great sensitivity about the Kashmir dispute at the global level at this time, therefore, Pakistan should take advantage of this opportunity and try to attract the world to play a role in resolving the lingering dispute.
He further said, “Our leaders, including Masarat Alam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Muhammad Yasin Malik have been in jails for years but India has failed to break their morale. Our Nelson Mandela, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, has spent a total of 36 years in jail.”
The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik has been sentenced to life imprisonment and the Modi government is now bent on giving him the death penalty, he lamented.
Dr Fai said the black law Public Safety Act (PSA) has been applied to Masarat Alam Butt 35 times and Pakistan should also make efforts to release these imprisoned leaders.
He said the world respects Pakistan as it has proved itself as a brave country in the world because it defeated an India-like country in May war. He said it is the best time for Pakistan to accelerate its efforts at the global level to bring India to the negotiating table.
