The Swiss women kick off the floorball World Championships in the Czech Republic with a successful start. With a score of 8:4 goals, they achieved a must-win against the Latvians.

Isabelle Gerig, who plays for Zug, made her mark on the game with two goals and four assists, clearly standing out from the Swiss team. However, the team of national coach Oscar Lundin did not put on a gala performance. The Swiss missed too many chances in attack and made several mistakes in defense.

The next match will be against Denmark on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. The preliminary round ends on Monday at 5 p.m. with a clash against the hosts from the Czech Republic. All Swiss matches in the group phase will take place in Brno.

After the disappointing 2023 World Championships in Singapore, where the Swiss finished fourth without a medal for the first time since the 2011 home World Championships, the team will be aiming to return to the medal ranks in the Czech Republic.
