The 2026 FIFA World Cup arrives in June, meaning one of the biggest global sporting events of the decade is just months away.
The United States, Canada and Mexico will host the tournament, which will feature 48 teams, the most ever.
At the 2026 World Cup draw, four teams were placed into Group F, with six group-stage matches set to be played in Arlington, Guadalupe and other sites. Either two or three of those squads will advance to the knockout stage.

Four years ago in Qatar, the Netherlands’ World Cup campaign ended in an acrimonious penalty shootout defeat to Argentina in the quarterfinals. Famously, that was not the first time the Oranje had come up short against the eventual winners. Defeats in the 1974, 1978 and 2010 finals — to West Germany, Argentina and Spain respectively — mean the Netherlands have lost the most finals of any nation not to win the World Cup.
They have reached at least the semifinals on five of their 11 World Cup appearances, but there is no great expectation that the Dutch will go similarly deep into the competition this time around. Nevertheless, they made pretty light work of qualifying, going unbeaten through eight games to finish top of Group G, three points ahead of Poland.
Ronald Koeman is enjoying a second spell in charge of the Netherlands, having led them to the final of the inaugural UEFA Nations League in 2019. His dream club job at Barcelona came calling, which meant he missed out on leading his country at the delayed Euro 2020, where the Dutch underwhelmed under Frank de Boer. The great Louis van Gaal returned for one last rodeo at Qatar 2022 and Koeman now gets the chance to lead from the dugout at a World Cup, having played in both 1990 and 1994.

After co-hosts USA, Mexico and Canada, Japan were the first nation to qualify for the World Cup with a dominant performance throughout qualifying. The Samurai Blue won six of their seven matches in the AFC third round of qualifying, sealing their spot at the World Cup in March with three group games to spare.
It is the eighth time Japan will feature at football’s showpiece event, having qualified the last eight occasions consecutively. They have reached the Round of 16 at World Cups but never managed to go further, losing to Turkey (2002), Paraguay (2010), Belgium (2018) and Croatia (2022). In their last two defeats in the Round of 16, Japan led Belgium 2-0 and Croatia 1-0 before failing to get the job done.
Captain and Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo is the heartbeat in midfield, while Real Sociedad flyer Takefusa Kubo provides a significant spark in attack. Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma is also an exceptional winger capable of unlocking any defence.
The minimum goal for Japan will be reaching the knockout stages of the World Cup, which begins with the Round of 32 because of the new 48-team format. But privately they will be keen to make the last 16 again and go beyond to achieve a new best World Cup performance.

Tunisia’s presence at the FIFA World Cup is no longer a shock or a stroke of luck, it has become part of the nation’s footballing identity. The Eagles of Carthage have punched their ticket to the 2026 edition in North America, marking their seventh overall appearance and their third on the bounce. Impressively, they’ve now reached five of the seven World Cups held in this century.
While the knockouts have always been just out of reach, Tunisia’s steady run of qualifications has armed them with valuable experience. That accumulated know-how could be the key to finally breaking through when they touch down in Canada, Mexico and the USA next year.
Their qualifying run for 2026 was nothing short of flawless. Tunisia sealed the campaign with a dominant 3-0 win over Namibia in Rades on Monday, finishing with a stunning 28 points from a possible 30.
Under head coach Sami Trabelsi, the Carthage Eagles completely controlled Group H, unbeaten, unflinching and, remarkably, unbreached. Not conceding a single goal throughout the entire campaign stands as a testament to their organisation, resilience and defensive pride.

Path B of the UEFA playoffs consists of Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, and Albania.
Ukraine are the designated home nation for their semifinal with Sweden, although they have been forced to play largely in Poland since Russia’s invasion. Poland and Albania contest the other semifinal; the winners of the final will reach the World Cup.

World Cup 2026 bracket for Group F
The winner of Group F will enter the knockout stage bracket on the top half, scheduled to take on the runner-up from Group C.
The Group F runner-up enters the bottom half of the bracket, slated to meet the winner of Group C.
The third-place finisher in Group F has five potential places in the knockout stage bracket they could be sorted into, should they qualify as one of the eight third-place qualifiers.
However, until all third-place qualifiers are known, it is impossible to predict where or when they could potentially play.
