    I’ve been NC with my parents for about 5 years and now they’re old and having health issues, and have reached out because “at the end of the day I’ll always be your mom/dad.” And of course everyone feels bad for them because they’re frail and seem harmless in their state now, so they ask why don’t I just give them a visit, can’t I just do that for them? Idk why I should have to. Sometimes relationships don’t work out, and that’s that. Being ill doesn’t change my mind. I tried for about 10 years to negotiate with their insanity so that I could stand to be in the same room with them for a day or two per year, I finally had enough and now I am the bad guy.

    This man doesn’t want to speak to his daughter, he wants fo manipulate Meghan into getting in touch and then sell his story. There are ways for him to get in touch that don’t involve making statements to the media.

  25. 10 years of no contact with my dad, I helped him when he had a stroke. After he got better he claimed he had no idea why I wouldn’t speak to him, when in reality he said “that’s too bad, anyways can I have $20?” after my child was stillborn. Now he whines to anyone who will listen how I won’t speak to him, and how evil I am.

    At a certain point you have to stop setting yourself on fire to keep someone else warm. This man, will likely not change, even if he’s dying. Once he’s back in good graces he will pull the same shit.

    I might be giving him way too much grace, but I can imagine slimy journos giving him a feedback loop on how much public support he’s getting in their comments, and how she’ll come round soon if he keeps leaning on the guilt trip, and they’ll have an amazing reunion story that will unite the public. It must be so shit for Meghan. This is the exact thing my dad I’m low contact with would fall for too.

  33. The first time I felt bad for Meghan was when her family started trashing her. It was so obvious they were thirsty for money and attention when she got engaged. This man is unwell but that doesn’t excuse his repeated interviews and insults at his daughter.
