  1. I used to work just off Oxford street and this time of year was a nightmare

  2. Funnily enough, I’ve just been re-reading this passage:

    > Even in London I avoid crowds at all cost; to push my way through the drift of suburban idlers in Oxford Street is torment to me.

  3. is it busy at Christmas??? fucking hell lad. I also just found out that water is wet, actually wild.

  4. Regent St was also hell today, I had expected there to be more festive things going on for the pedestrianised day, I couldn’t wait to get out of the area.

  5. Used to be busier when EVERYONE used to go there for last minute shopping before Christmas, there’s like half the amount of shops now! Most people there just seem to be “hanging out” rather than actually shopping.

  6. Am good thanks, but you all enjoy it if it’s your thing.

  7. Just come out of this, had no idea what was going on

  8. I was literally just there. It’s rammo. But Regents Street is pedestrianised today. That was a more pleasant experience.

  9. Canuck here who has never been. Is Oxford Street considered the “main drag” for central London? Is it often busy like this at other times of year? Is there a Christmas market nearby perhaps?

  10. Always hated oxford st and tott crt rd. even on a random tuesday its so rammed i get anxiety. Im not a particularly anxious person, but that place is hell

  11. Argh. I was also there this morning, absolute nightmare. I’m actually more stunned at the way these tourists bring their entire life luggage onto rush hour trains like we’re boarding a flight to Ibiza? 😂
like no, I can’t help you find Oxford Circus. I’m just trying to survive 😂

  12. I went into Central today without realising it would be quite so busy. Instantly regretted it.

  13. I tried a few hours ago. 5 minutes in, I gave up and decided to make a turn and get away from the horde. That lead to another horde, all consisting of people who had the same idea.

  14. Dunno mate a dodgy south African fella told me its hell on there. Firetrucks everywhere too

  15. Try living there.

10 years of this madness. Glad to have moved somewhere quieter.

  16. You’re right. Oxford Street is not representative of London. Oxford Street is the devil’s anus of locations. Literally anywhere else in London is better. Oxford Street needs to be deleted and started from scratch.

  17. Mumbai-level tourism. Pedestrianisation would just spread the hell
