  1. I personally think that this made up chart has a really poor color choice

  2. What would go wrong?? Not that there is some fascist sentiment rising around the globe, right?

  3. Just another way for the government to invade our privacy and freedom.

  4. Those fuckers will try to always hide behind “but it’s to protect the chiiildreeen!”

  5. Against. If it would help investigations against terrorism, cp and other extreme criminal activities, maybe… We all know it’s not about that. It’s about control and enforcing bullshit. They will of course prioritize “intolerant speech”, tax evasion and other forms of control. You will own nothing, say and do what we want and be happy.

The general public doesn’t need parenting, let parents do the actual parenting. Fucking like rabbits isn’t enough. After the children pop out, parenting is part of the deal.

  6. They can’t even punish the pedo’s they are catching today correctly.

  7. Not a single sane private individual is in favour of chat control.

  8. Weren’t we officially opposed? I thought that’s what De Wever had been roaring about for the past few weeks, and all the replies from Belgian MEPs that were posted here seemed to oppose the regulation as well…

  9. Bad guys can always use secure apps to bypass government control. However 99% of the population will use the most popular apps which will likely be controlled. If one day a fascist party is back in power, they could easily check on journalists (and their family), journalists, minority groups (LGBT, etc).

The real ‘danger’ is mass propagation of misinformation by anyone on social networks.

WWII should have taught us that chat control is dangerous. Authorities could easily assign ‘yellow stars’ to citizen based on their discussion, automatically (using AI).

  10. I think chat control is impossible to implement from a technical standpoint. Client side is impossible to enforce bc of how the internet works, server side is impossible to read without first breaking AES. And we have bigger problems if someone breaks AES

  11. Is there anyone except out of touch politicians in favor?

Experts (and I) have explained a thousand times why this is a bad idea, and they only make us feel like were proponents of childporn. It’s ridiculous.

I send the mails to all representatives (about 20?). Only 1 of the nva replied, and it came close to: I understand your concern, but think of the children. Implying I’m arguing against a measure against child porn.

And politicians have an exception, like, are they allowed to have child porn now?

I have a local self written setup that can avoid the forced backdoor, but that’ll only flag me as a bad actor.

  12. Against it.
They should first try it on the politicians instead of exempting them from this.

  13. Seeing how damaging misinformation can be, even tho i’m not really a fan of too much control of the government. I find it hard to find a clear line on the topic tbh. Now we have those telegram nutjobs that think the earth is flat and racism roars because those some right-wing chat groups even roped in more centered voters into it to a point where it seems thinking like that is totally ok and publicly accepted. I never thought we gonna see shit like in the US happening in my lifetime in a western democracy. In general, against chat contril but not entirely convinced, it is a straight-up bad thing.

I think we need more right wing voters so I can pay even more taxes and just not get any privacy.

  15. Governments being in favour of governmental control… colour me surprised.

You can probably ask all of the red country’s citizens and find that most people don’t really like having their privacy invaded.

  16. I emailed all of the Belgian politicians in the #U parliament. Most of them replied they were against it. Most of them voted in favor anyway. Dipshits.

(Not all of them replied back)

  17. It a law to create two kind of citizen one class that have to follow the law or the one who are not concerned by it a’d or can buy their way out of it …
