Türkiye’s defense firm HAVELSAN unveiled two new unmanned platforms, AKREP and HAMZA-1, developed through local cooperation in Egypt, at the EDEX 2025 defense exhibition in Cairo.

At the exhibition, HAVELSAN presented its software-based solutions and technology products while holding meetings with delegations from participating countries.

Platforms produced in cooperation with Egypt’s Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) drew significant attention, including from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who examined the vehicles during his visit.

Rapid development through local partnership

HAVELSAN’s Deputy General Manager for International Business Development and Marketing, Sevket Unal, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that after discussions at EDEX 2023, the company initiated projects in multiple fields, including land, air and naval systems, unmanned platforms and command-and-control solutions.

He said that a prototype of an unmanned ground vehicle was quickly developed in cooperation with AOI: “Through our work with AOI, an unmanned ground vehicle was developed in a short time and prepared for exhibition. The vehicle was designed to suit the desert and Egyptian conditions. During the same process, the HAMZA-1 platform also emerged through ongoing work in autonomous systems.”

Unal added that field demonstrations will be conducted for end users after the exhibition, and feedback will guide further development to prepare the platforms for operational use.
