Two police vehicles are seen blocking a vehicle linked to an attempted robbery at a mall in Mississauga.
Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery at a mall in Mississauga earlier this week.
Peel police said four masked individuals carrying hammers entered Erin Mills Town Centre shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
As a result, when mall security and an on-site paid-duty officer spotted the suspects, they pursued them.
Police said one suspect was arrested while three others fled in a stolen Honda CR-V.
Minutes later, officers tracked the Honda CR-V and boxed it in to ensure there wouldn’t be a pursuit.
Police have shared dashcam footage from one of the cruisers at the scene, showing what transpired.
In the video, two police vehicles converge on an SUV, blocking the front of the vehicle and the driver’s side door. Seconds later, one suspect is seen running away, and officers give chase.
From a distance, an unmarked car stops, and two people get out and appear to pursue the suspect running away.
A second suspect also tried to escape, seen running behind one officer. The suspect is then tackled to the ground by the officers and arrested.
No injuries were reported, and no property was stolen from the mall, police said.
The four suspects, who are aged 14 to 17 years old, have been charged with robbery, attempt to commit an indictable offence, possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of disguise with intent.
They cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Police said the four suspects are also linked to another robbery attempt in York Region.
