  1. Correct

I believe they offered to send HMNZS Canterbury!

  2. A Haka’s a bit of a weird defence against an Exocet, but ok….

  3. Thatcher had to keep them out the war because of the NZs were deployed they would be marching into the Argentine capital in a month.

  4. It’s worth noting that Port Stanley is ~5200 miles from Christchurch and ~7800 miles from Portsmouth. Their frigate could have been there days before the main Task Force. However, a lone frigate would have been vulnerable to Exocets and Super Etendard fighters without air cover.

  5. I remember this at the time and also remember being touched. I am going to New Zealand soon, and as a mark of appreciation, I intend to visit as many of their pie vans as possible. Yes folks, they have a thing called pie vans over there.

  6. I read it first that they offered to send a fridge and was very confused. 😵‍💫

  7. Knew a kiwi in the royal marines when I was in the navy can confirm god help anyone who wants to fight those fuckers.

  8. “Aha we have conquered Las Malvinas, let us see if the Brits have the cojones to retake it”

    *distant kiwi screeching*

    “…..esto fue un error”

  9. 55 years on this daft planet and the main thing it’s taught me is that the good people step up when needed. Thank you New Zealand.
