To ensure that shipments reach their recipients before the holidays, Latvian Postal Service (Latvijas Pasts) urges customers to take care of them in a timely manner. December 19th is the last day to send shipments for delivery in Latvia, while for shipments to foreign countries, the final minute to send them is now.

Latvijas Pasts has indicated that, on average, 94.7% of domestic shipments reach their recipients the day after they are sent, but the number of shipments increases during the holiday season, which can also affect delivery speeds.

In order for a domestic shipment to reach its destination by Christmas, it must be handed over to Latvijas Pasts at a parcel terminal, customer centre, post office, or courier by December 19th.

For international shipments, the delivery times of each country must be taken into account: for universal postal service shipments, these are 3 to 15 days, but for outgoing cross-border shipments, they are 4 to 35 days.

In order for a shipment to arrive in European Union countries before the holidays, it must be sent at the beginning of December. These conditions apply not only to parcels, but also to letters.

Latvijas Pasts has announced that four Christmas stamps designed by artist Māris Upenieks are currently available. One of them is dedicated to charity – for each stamp purchased, one euro will be donated to the charity marathon “Dod pieci!”‘s goal for this year: the rehabilitation of children and young people with neurological movement disorders.

Latvijas Pasts invites you to send a letter to Santa Claus by December 19, addressing it to: Ziemassvētku vecītim, Rūķupe, Ziemupes pasts, Vērgales pagasts, Dienvidkurzemes novads, LV-3463.
