President Zelenskyy: I am ready for elections. But for Ukrainians to vote safely, we need the U.S. and Europe to help provide security. I’ve also asked our lawmakers to prepare the legal framework required during martial law. If these conditions are met, Ukraine can hold elections within 60–90 days.

  1. Please dont. This will only make things worse in both national and international fronts.

  2. I can’t imagine how much Russia would try to interfere with that election.

  3. Trump and Putin would call it a corrupt election the moment it started and not honor the results if Ukraine got lucky enough to evade all the tampering that Trump/Putin would do and still win. Same playbook over and over again, and MAGA and Orcs are just too stupid to see how they are constantly played

  4. I’m not normally for delaying democracy. But in this case, I don’t see how fair elections could be held. As long as the public sentiment is favorable toward Zelenskyy, I think it would be best for him to remain for now.

  5. The world gave up on Ukraine. They will have to cater to Russia now – Putin is soon ready for war in Europe. The peace plan is just another betrayal waiting to happen

  6. Its a rock vs hard place… apeasing the orange toddler is the only real option vs the eu properly steping up. Which its looks like, its incapable of doing

  7. Please do not hold elections before Russia has signed a peace deal.

Russia will interfere in this and then cause more civilian havoc.

Russia would still interfere after a peace deal but it would be more difficult to to send troops across the borders.

  8. Leverage that shit into a no fly zone.

Want us to have elections? How about UN aircraft fly sorties around their airspace for a few days.

I say UN because Russia obv would freak out about NATO.

Or have some unrelated, neutralish but relatively reliable governmental entity do it. Like idk, Singapore.

  9. Ashamed he has to even dignify Dumpy Trumpy with a response.

  10. How do you vote in occupied areas?

    You don’t.

  11. What about the votes of all the fallen Ukrainian soldiers? They fought for the cause.

  12. I can hear Trump now: they held elections in Ukraine under Martial Law and zero fraud. We’d be stupid not to do it

  13. I hope he’s doing this to show Orange moron he has the support of his people. But my worry is he feels:

    1. There’s no support coming from allies that will change the current meta

    2. He doesn’t want to be the one who gives up land, so

    3. A loss in the election will allow him a graceful exit knowing he’s done everything humanly possible and more

  14. Russia just wants Ukrainians to be crowded around at polling stations so they’ll have some nice soft targets.

  15. Don’t freak out, folks. This is just him calling off trump’s bluff.

The condition for that election would be the US and Europe providing security, including during the voting so every voting spot is safe for the people. And among other things, this means measures like closing the Ukranian skies so no missiles or drones would fall on the people voting. Let alone towns closer to the front line, wich probably would require boots on the ground as well to keep them safe enough.

…and we all know they’re not going to do that.

(And not to mention the occupied areas, where it’s simply impossible).

  16. Seems like he is trying to show that Ukraine is willing to do anything to set the standard except seeding territory. It’s not gonna happen but show the US to have less excuses to appease Putin by thinking it’s Ukraine who is not willing to make the moves. Smart.

  17. I hate that Zelenskyy even feels the need to address elections because Trump is manipulating the conversation. The Ukrainian constitution is clear.

This is just the latest “birth certificate” bullshit from Stump.

  18. I wonder how they will cover the fact that part of their sovereign territory is currently invaded by another country and therefore part of the population cannot vote?

  19. If the election is fair then Ukraine’s parliament (Verkhovna Rada) would get cleansed of the loud mouth pro-Russian ministers that are holdovers from before the war.

  20. The Americans and russians only like to install a puppet leader they can control. Zelensky is too strong headed.

  21. Photographer here: This is my favorite kind of portrait. Lit by the street he is standing in. A good lens, a good camera, and an honest circumstance. Off topic, I know, but this picture rips and I wish the photographer would get more credit.

  22. Men on the Frontline are allowed time off, dude is also allowed time off.

  23. Don’t give up. I know you are exhausted but your Country needs you

  24. So the most pro Russia side of Ukraine is destroyed or contested. This election will be very pro Ukrainian. Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk voted pro Russia.
