Jane Fonda Stands Up for a Living Wage: ‘No Democracy Can Survive When Millions of Families Cannot Afford to Live’

  5. Living wage is a myth. Raise the wage and all of the landlords will collude again to raise rents and all the mega corps will raise prices. This is exactly what has already happened in California. The wealthy will never allow the working class to have money.

If we had the minimum wage at even $15 an hour and then a UBI of $1,000 a month for qualifying individuals, then that basically gets you up to $21/hr while providing a cushion in case there is a loss of work. This kind of setup, I think would be ideal as it provides a good safety net that allows people to take risks, which is good for the economy.

  11. Any talk of living wages needs to be paired with higher taxes on greater income amounts. If you agree that poor people NEED more income, it goes to say that excessively rich people do not NEED more unspendable amounts of wealth.
