Entire Russian column destroyed entering Pokrovsk

   An entire Russian column has been destroyed during a Ukrainian counter-attack in [Pokrovsk](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/12/06/pokrovsk-the-city-that-changed-the-war-ukraine/).

   Scores of military vehicles were left burning along a road in the eastern city, newly published footage shows.

   A Ukrainian drone can be seen sweeping over the wreckage, while earlier video appeared to show Russian troops and vehicles being struck with cluster munitions.

   The battle for the strategic logistics hub in Donetsk has raged for more than a year. [Vladimir Putin](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/12/08/vladimir-putin-is-in-a-win-win-situation/) recently [claimed Pokrovsk had fallen](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/12/02/russian-pokrovsk-capture-denied-by-ukraine/), but Ukrainian officials said he made the announcement during peace talks to persuade Donald Trump that a Russian victory was inevitable. 

   Kyiv insists its forces still hold positions in the northern part of the city, once home to 60,000 people before the full-scale invasion in February 2022. A video released on Tuesday showed Ukrainian soldiers waving their country’s flag to prove the city had not yet fallen.

   Ukrainian commanders reported on Wednesday an unusually large Russian mechanised assault inside Pokrovsk, where Moscow is believed to have massed around 156,000 troops.

4. It’s North of, that’s not entering, that’s pushing out of.

5. The Russian force can’t have been destroyed by Ukrainians, everyone knows the Ukrainians were forced out of Pokrovsk years ago.

   The only possible explanation is that it was done by the Russians themselves, they probably deliberately set fire to all their vehicles in order to celebrate the arrival of more T-14s. Out with the old, in with the new!

   You can’t see the T-14s in the video of course because of their stealth capabilities.

   Anyway like I say, it’s the only possible explanation.
