  1. No chance PP survives the leadership review now. He’s cooked.

  2. Carney is pretty much a progressive conservative. It makes sense that the more moderate cons would align with his views.

  3. Love that Green Party Leader Elizabeth May now holds the balance of power in Parliament!

  4. I somehow forgot how to read and thought it was referring to the LibDems and got very confused.

  5. No other choice but to unite with the way things are going in the US and around the world. Can’t afford to mess around anymore.

  6. Leaving a party and becoming independent is one thing. Is there any precedent even globally for this many mps joining the opposition party?

  7. I swear to god the liberals are political witches. I can’t think of any other party that can straddle the middle so well.

Public mood shifts left, Trudeau steals all the NDP ideas. Public mood shifts right, here’s Carney with some old school PC action.

  8. PP is honestly the worst thing that’s happened to the cons. His common sense plan was poorly thought out. He never had a plan in the first place. Now he’s lost control of his party. Bye PP, into the black hole of conservative. I wanted to vote for him so bad but he was clearly so fake.

  9. All they had to do was change the Conservative leader for a chance

  10. Can we get some government crackdown on nonstop gambling ads on the radio?

    Shit is super not chill.

  11. You’re gonna be reading a lot of cope from Canadian conservatives the next 24 hours. You’re about to see some of the most mind blowing mental gymnastics ever performed.

  12. Carney is conservative-lite and is the leader the cons wanted, not whiny baby peepee.

  13. Shoot PP is going to need a might powerful slogan fast!

  14. Sounds like this guy was another red Tory who was unhappy with PP. He talked to his constituents before deciding. The CPC has kept moving right and now has alienated moderate conservatives.

  15. You guys gotta understand, the Liberals are doing so poorly with the economy that the opposition is leaving their party to join them

  16. 1 shy of the majority with a by election coming for Edmonton central too. All they have to do is flip that riding where they weren’t that far behind.

  17. Given how many people vote for parties rather than candidates, I’m not the biggest fan of being allowed to swap parties.

If you can’t for whatever reason support the party you ran for, leaving said party should restrict you to sitting as an independent until the next election. If you then want to join a different party and run for re-election, go for it.

  18. PP’s house isn’t in order. The fact that the cons have not dumped this loser after not only kithe biggest election collapse in Canadian histor one of the biggest, if not the biggest, in world history while also losing his OWN riding is insane.

You can’t win an election in Canada if you can’t even win your riding. However, instead of holding their leader accountable, I’ve seen so many people just hand wave his objective loserness, if you will.

I see so many people who instead have issues with things they’ve been propagandized on and would rather complain about trans people. In the vast majority of these examples that I can think of, I would make a significant bet that these people probably don’t even encounter trans people on a year toyear basis.

Oh, you don’t want trans people teaching your kids? Well, since your ‘leader’ focuses more on coming up with incendiary and, I assume in his opinion, “catchy” and “clever” phrases. Your party is underwater. Both Erin O’Toole and Andrew Sheer would’ve dog walked Carney, imho.

PP’s poor management style, lack of vision, lack of charisma, and obviously lack of being a leader and just the general leadership skills required to be a successful politician. He’s the sole reason that the cons are literally going to gift the Liberals a majority without an election.

Maybe, just maybe, the certified habitual loser just ain’t all that. 🤷🏻 You can drop a politician like nothing; they have no real connection to you. PP is not what the political climate wants at this time in Canada. So, given what conservatives say their values are, why isn’t their party base revolting that this is happening? I don’t get it.

Stop trying to blame these mythical bad guys you’ve come up with in your head and look at the issue critically. It’s not like Canadians aren’t able to do this. I know how they talk about the Toronto Maple Leafs leadership.

    Edit**formatting

  19. Poilievre’s approval rating hit an all time low.

Surprisingly, his only supporters left are liberals happy with how he’s killing his own party.

  20. I don’t care who it is but if you cross the floor there should be an immediate by election, I’d be so pissed if my mp crossed for whatever reason,.

  21. Honestly, who cares what label we put on Carney. He’s implementing policies and programs that Canadians across the political spectrum want and support. Conservatives should actually be happy they’re getting stuff they want. Same for Liberals. Same for NDP. Maybe not Greens but an argument could even be made for them. Isn’t that ideal?

  22. Opened the Canadian conservative sub and the first post I saw was about how gay people shouldn’t be allowed to have kids and not this actual news of one of their MPs crossing the floor. That party base is so cooked it’s unreal. They may never win an election again if they don’t seriously re-evaluate their ideological leanings instead of being true conservatives.

That said, even as a left leaning Canadian, I don’t think floor crossings should be allowed. If you want to leave the party you were elected in, a by-election should be required. Let’s be real, most Canadians aren’t voting for their representative but for a party.

  23. They should have to re-.run, if you vote for one thing, and they change that, it should be a new vote.

I don’t care which party, you have changed your promises to the people.

  24. How is this democracy? Vote for a guy and he can switch sides after being elected? That literally is the definition of corruption …
