EV sales are up everywhere in the world — except North America. EV sales rose globally by 21%, but declined 1% in North America this year following Trump policy changes, tariffs, and the end of the EV tax credit. China leads with 11.6 million EVs sold. US automakers have been sounding alarm bells.

1. US automakers are so complicit in this. They’ve purposefully ignored R&D spending and have pompously underestimated Chinese automotive firms. They’re in bed with fossil fuels lobbyist as well, and this includes the likes of Toyota too.

   I’m glad there’s finally journalist pumping out these articles. It’s a five alarm fire in the US economy that can’t be talked about because emperor Trump might get upset

Well if GM, Stelantis and Ford can’t understand that entrenching in USA gasoline guzzlers to please the rotting demented mango is trashing the billions they’ve spent on EV development and abandoning their future possibilities, then they’re not smart enough to sell cars to the world. You’d think they would at least rely on Canadian plants to produce EVs and delay Canada’s opening up to Chinese EVs. But they sure aren’t demonstrating that kind of prescience.

5. That is actually shocking to me, I assumed everyone would buy EV’s before the tax incentives ended, then after that the sales would totally slump in America. Sucks they already are slumping.

6. Careful – you can shoot yourself in the foot in China and sell 11M of anything. Law of Large Numbers.

7. At least half the explanation for this is range anxiety.

   Americans drive more often and they cover more miles.

8. New car sales are down in the US. 2026 will probably see an even larger decline as the Trump economy stalls out.

9. Electric vehicles make combustion look extremely outdated. Once you own one, the only reason to look back is for road tripping to places that don’t have fast charging on the way. This problem is going to quickly go away because people who own the fast chargers like to make money. Using gas and doubling down on the oil industry is very much going backwards.

   Not paying for gas is so nice. We need to double down on clean energy production and get rid of the twats trying to push the country back a century.
