  1. Can’t wait for all the antivaxxers to use the title as their argument, without having read the article and understanding it. But that’s to be expected. Anyway, I hope everyone stays healthy

  2. It turns out that mRNA vaccines do increase risk of myocarditis. But you are **10x more likely to get myocarditis from an COVID infection than the mRNA vaccines.**

  3. > Vaccine-associated myocarditis occurs in about one in every 140,000 vaccinees after a first dose and rises to one in 32,000 after a second dose. For reasons that aren’t clear, incidence peaks among male vaccinees age 30 or below, at one in 16,750 vaccinees.

They also said in the article that most cases of myocarditis weren’t severe and cleared up after a recovery period. Seems like the risk is mild and a recommendation for young men to take it easy/monitor for complications is probably all that’s needed.

    > Fortunately, most of these cases end well, Wu said, with full heart function retained or restored. Recovery is typically swift.

    > “It’s not a heart attack in the traditional sense,” he said. “There’s no blockage of blood vessels as found in most common heart attacks. When symptoms are mild and the inflammation hasn’t caused structural damage to the heart, we just observe these patients to make sure they recover.”

  4. Yeah, my sister got this pretty bad after her covid shot. Unfortunately she is surrounded by antivax friends who have now convinced her never to get another vaccine. I’m just glad it happened after my nephew was a kid so he already has all his shots.

  5. “Identified a two-step sequence in which these vaccines activate a certain type of immune cell, in turn riling up another type of immune cell. The resulting inflammatory activity directly injures heart muscle cells, while triggering further inflammatory damage.”

““But COVID’s worse,” he added. A case of COVID-19 is about 10 times as likely to induce myocarditis as an mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccination, Wu said. That’s in addition to all the other trouble it causes.”

    aka, get the vaccine

  6. I had some pretty crazy side effects (still do, to some degree, 4 years later) after my COVID shot and always wondered if it was myocarditis related (fainting, severe dizziness when standing up). Guess I’ll never know. The joys of not being able to afford healthcare.
