Seoul is transforming into a dazzling winter destination as the 2025 Seoul Winter Festa opened on December 12, kicking off 24 days of lights, performances, and cultural celebrations across the city.

This year’s theme, “FANTASIA SEOUL,” spans six major locations—Gwanghwamun Square, Cheonggyecheon, Seoul Plaza, DDP, Bosingak, and Ui Stream—linking the capital with immersive media art, markets, skating, and K-culture programs.

A Spectacular Opening Night

The festival opened at 7 p.m. on December 12 at Gwanghwamun Square with a large-scale ceremony featuring the Fantasia Light Parade, dynamic media-art dance performances, and special appearances from global groups such as the Philippines’ BAILLES DE LUCES.

A Korean dance showcase and a musical gala starring top performers added artistic flair to the evening.

Citizens Take Center Stage

A 180-member citizen choir delivers one of the night’s highlights, joining musical actors and performance teams for a flash-mob finale to the song “Dancing Queen.”

Citywide Light-Up Ceremony

The opening concludes with a synchronized lighting event, illuminating Gwanghwamun’s media façades and outdoor displays, officially signaling the start of Seoul’s winter festivities.
