  20. Oh my god… when the news first broke about 2 dead in his home I just knew… I’m so sad.

    I got to meet Rob briefly (I’m an assistant at a studio) and escorted him to a meeting and he was BY FAR not just the nicest filmmaker but the nicest person I’ve ever escorted to a meeting. He asked all about my experience as an assistant, where I grew up and went to school, and he even sat down with me outside the conference room to finish our conversation. 💔💔

And I used to work at a talent agency and have worked with lots of shitty executives who treat assistants terrible, so that’s why this moment with Rob stuck with me. Was trying to share a nice story but Redditors made it weird lmao this is why I don’t post/comment on Reddit too much

    Extremely sad. My heart goes out to their entire family. He seemed like a good person from ahat we can see from the outside looking in.

    The world is a dark place, things like this happen daily. I hope as a society we can figure out a way to stop the pain. Those who did this need to be found and punished to the full extent of the law. How disgusting. Murdered in your own home, your safe place. No excuses. They need to burn.

    I just watched Spinal Tap last night and the Netflix documentary about Dick Van Dyke today. Rob Reiner has been all over my TV screen for the last full day. He was just so familiar to us all.

    His film streak from 84-92 is just straight up fire (yes that includes the very underrated Sure Thing).

When I first read the story a couple of hours ago, I thought that it was going to be a situation similar to what happened to Gene Hackman and his wife, or perhaps carbon monoxide poisoning- I can’t believe they were apparently stabbed to death in their own home. It’s an awful tragedy, especially during this time of year. I hope their loved ones can find some sort of peace, despite this terrible thing.

  39. Nah this actually has me so upset the more I think about the more tears I have, his movies have meant everything to me. Seeing stand by me as a little girl influenced so much of the way I act now. I learned so much from that movie, in high school I was even dressing like the way they do in the film. I used to choose movies for my friend group when we were doing seasonal work, and I told them stand by me would be the perfect last movie for us to watch before we all went out separate ways. We cried we were thankful for each other. This is such a tragic end I’m honestly speechless. May him and his wife rest in peace so fucked up.

  40. I hate being like “I’m sad because I liked his work.” But I AM sad… and I did like his work. If his work was a way of speaking to the world, I liked what he had to say and how he said it. I’m so sorry for him and his wife, and my heart goes out to his family, especially in light of the circumstances and current speculation.

  41. Multiple sources have confirmed that Nick Reiner is the lead suspect and has been taken in for questioning by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division.

  43. So fucking sad. He knew my dad and Rob was a righteous dude. Showed up to dad’s funeral on a big ass Harley. And shortly afterwards, someone made a very large anonymous donation to one of dad’s favorite charities.
