King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark sent a heartfelt statement following the mass shooting at a Hanukkah event at Australia in which at least 16 people were killed
The royal couple sent “our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to all those affected, their loved ones, the people of Australia and the Jewish community”

King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark sent their condolences to the Australian people and the Jewish community following a mass shooting at a Hanukkah event in the Queen’s home country.
On Dec. 14, the King and Queen of Denmark released a statement responding to the terror attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney on Sunday, in which at least 16 people were killed and at least 40 others were injured.
“We and the people of Denmark are profoundly saddened by the tragic news of the terror attack at Bondi Beach today,” the message said. “We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to all those affected, their loved ones, the people of Australia and the Jewish community.”
The message was sent on official letterhead from Amalienborg, the Danish royal family’s home in Copenhagen, and the royal couple signed the message with their first names, Frederik and Mary.
Queen Mary, 53, was born in Tasmania and met her husband, the future King Frederik, at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
She is known to privately travel back to Australia and sometimes brings along their children, Crown Prince Christian, 20, Princess Isabella, 18, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, 14.
On Dec. 14, two gunmen opened fire on a crowd of about 1,000 at the Chanukah by the Sea festival at the world-famous Bondi Beach, Reuters reported.
At least 16 people were killed and at least 40 people were hospitalized for injuries, a Dec. 15 press release from the New South Wales Police said.

According to BBC News and Sky News, the shooters were a father and son. The father, 50, died at the scene, while the son, 24, sustained critical injuries and remains hospitalized.
At a press conference on Sunday, New South Wales Premier Chris Minns declared the incident a terrorist attack on the Jewish community in Sydney.
