Wondering why e-Estonia is not nominating it's e-Sports superstar ropz for athlete of the year?

Given the award has previously been given out for Chess and his achievements this year (2x "Major"/World Championships and other large tournaments) I'd think it would warrant at least a nomination.

  1. Estonia Olympic Committee favors mostly Olympic sports and European and World championships. They could be added to the nominees list, but esports is not very popular or well known in Estonia, so there is no pressure from public either for the journalists to add them

  2. Athlete – a person who is proficient in sports and other forms of physical exercise.

  3. Sadly older people don’t know anything about E-sports and they probably have no idea how significant his achievements are..

Meanwhile his teammate “Mezii” was on BBC not too long ago and Macron himself congratulated “Apex” and “Zywoo” after their last major win.

  4. I could play video games for 12 hours straight without breaking a sweat. Run suicides? Yeah, I could do it, but given a chance, I would like to opt out.

    Basically:
    sports
    e-sports

For what it’s worth, I don’t consider chess a sport either. There should be an entirely new category for sitting-down activities that count as competition.

    Sincerely,
A person who used to participate in physical sports, but now plays video games all the time.

  5. Mis järgmiseks? Võistlussöömine, võistluskudumine, võistlustwerkimine?
