  1. Obama’s fault, but I guess the US wouldn’t be into getting involved in another conflict at the time. incredibly fucked up.

  2. Yes, but, but… he proposes LEGAL obligation to defend Ukraine instead! Why wouldn’t anyone trust LEGAL obligations by the US government?

  3. to never recognize the “illegal” annexation of Crimea…any portion of Ukrainian territory “through the use of military force.”

this would be the work around

  4. Just ask Trump. I’m sure he will confirm that it’s not true and he never signed such law.

  5. US law.. in this day and age?…it does not exist I thought that much would be clear by now – US doctrine is pretty much: there is no promise we will honour, there is no oath we wont betray

get it through your head PLEASE – you cannot trust the US anymore, the sooner we all learn that, the better we can adapt

  6. OP – could you send it to some of the main news stations for them to take further?

  7. Yes. Maybe a summary of trump acting as president is: he will do whatever he wants–regardless of the law or constitution.

Only if he gets pushback will he change his actions.

  8. Well if Ukraine signs an agreement then it’s not by military force but by negotiations.

That will probably be the reasoning

  9. I wonder what happens when you put “never” in a law, does that mean it can never be replaced by another law?
The current law says “never” so any change to that is contrary to the law, and you can’t create laws contrary to the law.

  10. Bold to assume members of Trump’s party would do anything like “read” or “think”.

  11. Ignoring the US law is basically the only thing Trump and his Nazifriends are doing since they are in office.

And everyone knew that that would be the case before the election.

  12. lol, asking journalists to do their job. Journalism is dead and buried, fact checking and confronting people? not their job anymore, apparently.

And triple LOL, thinking that trump has a single care about the law!

  13. Actually, these are the ones you should be quoting, actually:

P.L. 113‑95 2014 Obama Condemns annexation of Crimea
P.L. 113‑272 2014 Obama Sanctions tied to illegal annexation
P.L. 115‑44 (CAATSA) 2017 Trump Codifies sanctions for annexation; locks in non‑recognition
P.L. 116‑94 2019 Trump Explicit prohibition on recognizing Crimea as Russian

  14. Laws?….Never heard of them.

    The USA currently.

  15. Because the current admin is incompetent

Trump is a born extortionist. Long term deals with his adminstration should never be made, because Trump himself refuses to stay bought. That is, he is always available to the highest bidder.

  16. I can imagine trump replying that it’s not a law but merely a ‘guideline’ to follow…..or maybe even just a concept of a guideline, a suggestion if you will but not a law. Haven’t you heard? He’s above the law.

I hate him and anyone who voted for him. Hopefully karma will bite them all hard for what they’ve allowed that country to become.

  17. He’s not exactly known for his strict adherence to US law.

  18. How could they make a mistake in work UkraInian is beyond my imagination, how many people read it and didn’t pay attention

  19. Demanding from US journalists to do their job is like asking Trump to be honest. Won’t happen, because if it would then whole jig is up.

  20. Just an FYI, SEC 258 terminates all of SEC 257 after 5 years. SEC 257 expired in 2022. I checked for any extensions and renewals of SEC 257 A.3, but was unable to find anything. Everything passed since then seems to explicitly single out funding on the topic.

Nice find though, I was wondering why our media and journalism wasn’t talking about this, and that apparently is why. It expired in 2022. 🙁
