As the fifth day of the charity marathon “High Five!” (Dod Pieci!) rolled around in the glass studio in central Rīga, by Tuesday evening, 322,354 euros had been donated to children and young people with neurological movement disorders, said Latvian Radio.

All funds donated during the marathon will go to the charity organization Ziedot.lv.

The glass studio was visited by  Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs researchers from the “IMRSportsLV” project, Dace Reihmane and Aija Kļaviņa, as well as Natalija Novikova, the head of the Children and Youth Parasports Association, who herself uses a wheelchair.

Her message is clear – sport is as important for people with disabilities as it is for anyone else, but it is still not always perceived as equal in society. “When we talk about sport, we often think of healthy people. However, sport is also extremely important for children and young people with disabilities – it improves the quality of life, helps to find one’s place in society and develops the emotional world,” said Natalija.

From December 1st to 18th, you can exchange your donation for your favourite song on Latvian Radio 5 via electronic payment on the website dod.pieci.lv. From December 12th to 18th, cash and non-cash donations will also be accepted at the charity marathon’s glass studio in Doma Square right next to the Latvian Radio building.

Until January 4th, 2026, every Latvian resident will be able to support “High Five!” by donating at “Narvesen” stores throughout Latvia. When purchasing a hot drink in special “High Five” mugs, 10 cents will be donated to the marathon’s cause. Support can also be provided by placing donations in donation boxes or adding a donation to the purchase amount when paying by bank card.

Until January 6th, 2026, donations will also be accepted at the charity organisation Ziedot.lv website www.ziedot.lv or by calling 90204110 (call charge €5).
