The problem is that the only people who’d pay attention to such laws are the ones who could be more trusted with guns in the first places. Criminals break laws, Eilish. Breaking a law on possessing a gun is a lot easier to accept once you’ve decided to kill someone. The problem isn’t guns; there are plenty of models that demonstrate this. (The primary indicators of violence are family construction and mental health – with most gun deaths being gang violence and suicide, neither of which gun laws would really affect all that much.) Fix families – which ain’t your choice, *singer* – and mental health – which, again, ain’t your choice but is an even harder nut to crack – and guns aren’t much of an issue any more.

Then America thought the best course of action was to vote for a guy with multiple felonies, bankruptcies, child rape accusations, and not to mention an illiterate psychopath. Also, America thought it to be wise to vote in a Congress whose best idea to combat mass shootings was to arm teachers, further weaken gun laws, and “bring God back in schools”? America wants this.

If a gun sold by a dealer is used in the commission of a murder the dealers license is automatically revoked. Seller becomes personally liable to civil suits.

The Brown shooting was with legally owned pistols in an area that already made it illegak to have guns there. There is no chunk of voters or politicians with power who want to ban these.

I totally get her point with the US shootings but including a terrorist attack in a country with gun control kinda muddies the messaging because Australia’s gun control clearly didn’t stop this horrendous attack.
That’s why the NRA supporters I know are all saying the only thing Australia’s strict gun laws did was make it so only the terrorists had guns, which is the same argument they made after the terrorist attacks in Paris years ago.

But I am mentally capable enough to know I do not need such a weapon when a 9mm or 10mm will do me fine in protection and legally.
