I'm trying to keep in touch with Finnish culture until I have the opportunity to come back in your country (I spent a semester in Finland last year and absolutely loved it), and making joulutorttut in December was part of the plan to do so. I felt quite happy about them and it was heartwarming to eat some again, so I wanted to share this picture with you guys.

I forgot the icing sugar, but they were tasty nonetheless. Made with plum jam. I'll be happy to improve my recipe next time (and not forget the icing sugar) !

Hyvää Joulua kaikille!

  1. Ooh looking pretty good.

Next time maybe take them out of the oven a bit earlier, I think they are a little too brown!

  2. Icing sugar is more of a voluntary option, my family never used any because we’re lazy 😂 Yours look good as they are!

  3. Looking good and I hope they taste nice as well. I never put icing sugar and neither does anyone in my family, don’t worry about it

  4. Good job and excellent Christmas swastikas! Hyvää joulua!

  5. Looking yummy! There are also new jam tastes out this year, so be sure to try those out, but my favourite is also plum!
Did you make the dough from scratch?
If yes, the best frozen dough is actually not the one that says “torttutaikina” but the one with extra butter: [https://www.myllynparas.fi/tuotteet/voitaikina-1-kg](https://www.myllynparas.fi/tuotteet/voitaikina-1-kg)

    Happy Christmas!

  6. What kind of dough are you using? They look very flat. Or did you leave the dough to defrost too long?

But other than the flatness they look great, just the right level of darkness in them. Absolutely my favourite finnish christmas treat/pastry.
