The Grand Circus Hotel provides the perfect base to explore Malmö, and one of its most loved attractions is its gregarious owner

When I asked for a lift from the train station on my first day in Malmö, I was told the driver would pick me up in the “big pig”. I quickly spotted a bright red van, spray painted to look like a huge pig, with “Grand Circus Hotel” emblazoned in flames on the side.
When I told friends and family that I was using my precious annual leave to volunteer at a circus hotel in Sweden, I got plenty of jokes about running away with the circus and getting a degree from clown college. But loading my rucksack into the pig van was my first indication I was in for an even weirder ride than I thought.
