British police are meant to police a civilized country governed by law. U.S. police are equipped as if they were operating in a war zone.
Either that or breaking doors down to arrest someone who’s put a racist comment on social media, while the house next door is being robbed at gunpoint.

British police are like a sleeping lion. I was once at Victoria station asking for a police car for the directions to the bus station, and they both got big guns.
Back in the day, there used to be police men walking around with big guns in st.pancras station.
But our peelian princes made that stop.

Britain sadly has some racist, violent and rap-y police, and has rarely dealt with them well. The USA clearly has many police who don’t shoot people.
Otoh, I think this picture is a decent summary.
I’m no bootlicker. But I genuinely believe uk police are among the best trained and most restrained police in the world. I’ve photographed riots around the world, witnessed thousands of acts of intense and sickening brutality. I’ve seen minor infractions dealt with physically in many countries. But I see it here far less frequently.
What funny about using hot fuzz is that there is an entire town shoot out at the end of the film
