  1. Chivalry be dammed, changing a tyre is peak alpha male territory.  Those two strutted around like peacocks for the rest of the day.

  2. Long time ago I was stuck on the hard shoulder with a flat tyre, a police car pulled up and 2 young male police officers got out and proceeded to try and change the tyre. They couldn’t get the wheel nuts off and so got back in their car and drove off. Just left me there.

  3. Normalise everyone knowing how to change a car wheel for the spare.

  4. Everyone should either learn to change a tyre or have run flats.

Ideally all genders should know how to change a tyre, identify coolant/oil issues, change a spark plug, headlights, and wipers.

  5. I (50m) remember being out with my sister in her car and she got a flat. She had a spare. She started to call the breakdown service. ‘what the fuck are you doing ‘?

  6. Chivalry isn’t dead,

But there’s very few ladies who are deserving of it.

  7. Why don’t they teach these basics at school instead of geography lessons on 18th century cannons or French lessons. They could even throw in how to use a washing machine or file tax returns

  8. I’ve done this twice. The last time was for a little old lady who drove into the car park on only 3 wheels! I asked her if her car felt a bit funny when she was driving it and she said yes! I then showed her the rim and lack of tyre. She wasn’t in the AA or anything, so I just changed it for her.

  9. Always remember: loosen the nuts 1/2 a turn when on the floor, then jack up, then undo them fully.

  10. Gotta love how a wholesome post about people helping out their fellow humans, brings out the worst in some damaged people lol.

Some scorned people in these comments 😂

  11. You’d think it would be part of your driving test.
Ignore social media all click bait it sales driven division and insecure cries for help.
Most of us have always been just kind and helpful. We just need a little opportunity to show it.

  12. It’s great they stopped and helped but if you own a car you should know how to change a tyre. Honestly it’s baffling to me that people drive and have no idea about basics like this

  13. As a woman I’m always appalled when a woman doesn’t know how to change her own tyre.

  14. And we always will all we wish for is that you know how to do it incase nobody is about.

  15. Anyone that does not know the the basics of looking after a car – this includes changing a tyre – should not have passed their driving tests.

  16. Not sure chivalry is alive and kicking given this woman was probably on her way to pester people at a women’s health clinic.

  17. Now I truly read the name of this sub as great British memes

  18. Am concerned though that, as a man, stopping to help a woman at the side of the road may make them feel threatened. Changed a tyre for an elderly couple before who I saw were struggling but wouldn’t want to make a lone woman feel vulnerable and unsafe if I offered to help.

  19. Just great. Good lads.

This should also be posted on r/mademesmile

  20. I don’t want to say anything bad about people being nice, but surely she should know how to change her own tyre? It’s not exactly brain surgery.

  21. Chivalry never died, it just got suppressed by raging feminists screaming “i can do anything a man can do, I don’t need no mans help”

You baked the cake, feel free to eat it.

I appreciate that the vast majority of women would just be grateful for the help but from a man’s point of view it’s often not worth the hassle.

  22. Three times I’ve stopped to help a man change a wheel, and each time I’ve wondered if people are less inclined to help another man, just speculation I’m not trying to stir anything up I’m genuinely curious.

  23. I take it changing a tyre is a blue job. Something wrong with this female’s hands.
