Germany is preparing to order the first batch of Patria 6×6 APCs under the local name TPz NG in the quantity of 228 units. And these are the same armored vehicles that are produced under the joint European CAVS program and have even been supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As ES&T reports, €747 million is planned to be allocated for this contract. This will include ten armored personnel carriers in Swedish configuration, 170 vehicles in the engineer group transport variant (Pioniergruppentransport, PiGrp) and 48 in the armored reconnaissance group transport variant (Panzeraufklärungsgruppentransport, PzAufklGrp).

In addition to this, an option remains for another 54 PiGrp armored vehicles and 14 PzAufklGrp, which will cost another €212 million. Also, another €188 million will be allocated for deploying infrastructure for production localization.

Of course, as in any contract for ordering equipment, this deal will include sets of spare parts, tools and accessories for maintenance, as well as anti-slip chains. Training of personnel and logistics support are also provided.

Regarding how delivery will occur, a dozen armored vehicles in Swedish variant will be available in January 2026 for comprehensive testing and officer training. After this, from the end of 2026 to the end of 2027, PiGrp engineer transports of Finnish production will arrive.

German industry will join PiGrp supply later and complete their transfer by the end of 2028. After this, PzAufklGrp will begin arriving, also first of Finnish, and then German production. All this is planned to be completed by the end of 2029.

Defense Express can only add that this is good detailing of Germanys plans for deploying localization. Overall, the country has a need for up to 4,000 such wheeled armored personnel carriers, which will be purchased gradually until 2035.

Overall, Patria 6×6, thanks to the CAVS project and its affordable price, is becoming the main European armored vehicle in this class. At the same time, it managed to reach even Ukraine, where Latvia conducted transfer of new ones over 10 months.
