The Embassy of Haiti in France organized the Haiti in France Influence Award ceremony, a distinction intended to honor individuals whose work makes a remarkable contribution to promoting Haiti in France and beyond.
In his address, Ambassador Louino Volcy, the Haitian Ambassador to France, justified the award by the need to highlight and recognize members of the Haitian community who have contributed to raising the profile of our country in France by 2025. According to him, this award is part of the Embassy’s mission to promote a positive and credible image on the French and international stage. “This award aims primarily to encourage prominent members of the Haitian community who contribute to the influence of our country in France. This distinction invites the recipients to remain role models for our community and for Haiti in general.”

Literature Category :
The Prize was awarded to Robert PHILOMÉ, recognized for his patriotic contribution and his commitment to raising awareness of Haiti in France through his voice and his novel “Port-au-Prince, Cotonou, un écho sans retour” (Port-au-Prince, Cotonou, an Echo Without Return).
Novelist Yanick LAHENS was also honored for her major work, notably “Passagères de nuit”, and for the central place she gives to Haiti in her literary output.
History and Memory Category :
Éric SAURAY was recognized for his work in shedding light on Haitian history, particularly through his “Funeral Eulogy for Empress Claire Heureuse.”
Jean-Marie THÉODAT was distinguished for his research, his teaching, and his commitment to the crucial issue of the restitution of the ransom for independence.
Culture and Heritage Category :
The Prize was awarded to Josette BRUFFAERTS, in recognition of the major role of the Haiti Futur association in promoting Haitian literature, particularly at the Haitian Book Fair in Paris.
Joé “Dwèt Filé” was recognized for his significant contribution to promoting Haitian Compas music in France and Haitian music worldwide.
The Prize was also awarded to Lourdy MORLAND, whose “Bohio Ayiti” Association actively works to promote and transmit Haitian heritage in France.
Gastronomy Category:
Chef Carline IRANTUS was honored for her culinary talent and her contribution to showcasing Haitian gastronomy in France.
Sports Category:
International football player Melchie Dumornay, also known as “Corventina”, was recognized for her exceptional talent and the inspiration she provides to Haitian youth through her sporting achievements.
The Grenadiers men’s national team was also honored for its historic qualification for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, 52 years after Haiti’s first participation.
Finally, the Honor and Merit Award was presented to Ms. Jocelyne Béranger and Mr. Garba Tangou, respectively Secretary and Support Staff Member at the Embassy, for their exemplary professionalism, their commitment to public service, and their exceptional contribution to the operation and influence of the Haitian Embassy in France.
