Trump halts all offshore wind leases for projects under construction due to ‘national security risks’. Five Atlantic Coast projects are affected. The latest move arrives after a federal judge threw out Trump’s order against wind projects. Critics have questioned the national-security argument.

  1. This is all just to help oil. If you really had a national security issue, you’d want the wind turbines to generate power because it’s another source of energy.

    This argument is complete bullshit

  2. There absolutely is a huge emergency, an emergency for the fossil fuel industries.

The gas and oil glut hasn’t even started yet and these trends are about to accelerate hard. When demand collapses this fast, don’t expect a calm response. Expect desperation, market games, and geopolitical stunts from petrostates, oil companies, and the politicians they’ve captured. The world’s about to get messy. We’ll be told this is about “security,” while taxpayers bankroll defense budgets to muscle cheap oil out of places like Venezuela, because high-cost domestic oil can’t compete in a world that needs less of it every year.

See: “Emerging economies are outpacing advanced markets in EV uptake.

The payoff is clear – EVs use three times less energy than petrol and diesel cars, which can cut fossil demand by:
    🇧🇷 94% in Brazil
🇮🇩 Nearly half in Indonesia, despite a fossil-heavy grid” https://ember-energy.org/latest-insights/the-ev-leapfrog-how-emerging-markets-are-driving-a-global-ev-boom/

  3. Years ago, Trump lost a legal battle regarding offshore wind farms by his golf course in Scotland, and so of course he’s carried a massive, festering chip on his shoulder ever since.

  4. Putin could not have found a better way to fuck America.

  5. He’s FOS! His whole admin is FOS! These have been approved and gone through all reviews this is purely just to f*** all Americans with massively higher power prices. He wants no new power added and wants data centers added along with exporting even more gas overseas instead of keeping it here in the U.S. so we Americans can pay even more $$$ to f***** power companies!!! He and republicans in general SUCK!!! And I dislike all Americans who voted for this stupid demented moron along with his band of merry cronies!

  6. Angry? Understandable. But turn it into action.
Make a 2026 plan to donate, to join a local voter registration drive, to phone bank, and (most of all) to vote. Take a look at any upcoming elections in your town and state. Every level, every election, big or small.

  7. Whatever, I was already laid off from the offshore wind industry. Offshore oil and gas is dead too. US is just a complete dumpster fire. Within a decade we’ll be importing all our (renewable) energy infrastructure from China, cars and trucks too. As will our supposed European allies.

  8. Trump’s corrupt go-to if all else doesn’t work. He will call any of his bs an “emergency” or “National Security” issue.

  9. Vineyard Wind 1 is already delivering power to the grid. I don’t know how you can stop projects that are fundamentally complete.

  10. Many industries, including wind, have failed to get the message that you need to bring gold bars to the White House if you want your product/project to be successful.

  11. The fucking ballroom is a national security issue. You can call everything a national security issue and just do what you want apparently.

  12. Isn’t this like the third time he’s done this?

  13. Even if these developers bring lawsuits and win, nobody is going to ever want to develop offshore wind again in the US. Even if you start a project under a friendly administration the threat of an unfriendly one is always just a few years away.

  14. There is only one threat to national security and he lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

  15. They give the penguins in his head prostate cancer.
