New data from Aldi Ireland has revealed that Brussel sprouts are expected to be the undisputed star of Christmas 2025.
Estimates based on last year show that a quarter of the month’s stock was snapped up on 23 December, with fresh cream, champagne and AA+ batteries close behind, showing that Irish shoppers will be racing to the shops to grab festive essentials that can make or break the day.
Last year, 23 December was also Aldi’s busiest shopping day of the year, with households across the country flooding to stores to secure everything need to ensure Christmas ran smoothly.
It’s no surprise, as nothing puts a damper on Christmas more than forgetting batteries for a new toy, the cream for the Christmas pudding, or Champagne for cheersing to celebrations.
This year, Aldi expects a similar pattern, with last-minute shoppers ticking off the last essentials before 25 December.
To help shoppers along, Aldi has released the items that topped the list on 23 December 2024, forming an essential checklist for today’s dash to the supermarket!
