One person is dead after a shooting in Scarborough, Toronto police say.

Police say in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that a person was found with a gunshot wound just after 3:30 p.m. at Highland Creek Trail and Old Kingston Road, near the University of Toronto Scarborough campus (UTSC).

UTSC issued a safety alert advising anyone in a building to stay inside and anyone outdoors to leave the area. The shelter-in-place was lifted just before 6 p.m.
