  1. I have lived in Munich for 2 years and in ruhr area for 4 years in Koblenz. If you can live in central MUNICH and afford the rent. It’s one of the best places to live and enjoy life in Germany.

  2. It really boils down on how old you are and what you are into. If you are not into clubbing and like it calm, Munich is good. If you are into clubbing and want action, Berlin is the best choice by far. Cologne is a great place overall, too. My personal favorite however is Freiburg im Breisgau. It’s not that big, but the quality of life is outstanding.

  3. I vote for Speyer and Mainz. Not so big, but still very decent to live

  4. The setting of Monkey Island is definitely worth living in.

  5. I would say Baden-Baden, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bamberg, Munich and Dusseldorf

  6. I’ll throw in Rosenheim , close to nature, 1h train from Munich if needed. Small but beautiful.
    I’m

  7. I love living in Frankfurt. Genuinely. It’s a good place.

  8. Berlin, if you can still afford it.

Cue the downvotes for the mention of Berlin.

  9. Höxter, Holzminden and Hameln are up there for sure.

  10. What does “best” mean to you? What do you want/need to live there?

  11. If you’re looking at the data (GDP, safety, and infrastructure), here are the top 5 cities that consistently win.
    * Munich: Basically the “Endgame” city. It has the best job market (tech/auto) and is incredibly safe, but the rent will make you cry. Closest to the Alps if you like hiking.
    * Frankfurt: The “Global Hub.” It’s the financial center with the highest salaries. Very international, great for English speakers, and you can get anywhere in the world from the airport in 20 minutes.
    * Hamburg: The “Green City.” It’s a massive port city with a high quality of life. It’s less “stiff” than Munich and has a huge media and renewable energy scene.
    * Berlin: The “Culture Capital.” It’s still the best spot for startups and creative work. It’s grittier than the others but offers a lifestyle/nightlife you won’t find anywhere else in Europe.
    * Düsseldorf: The “Hidden Gem.” It ranks super high for infrastructure and ease of living. Great for families and expats, especially if you work in fashion, telecommunications, or advertising.
TL;DR: Go to Munich for money/safety, Berlin for vibes/startups, and Frankfurt if you want a high-paying corporate job and an easy commute.

  12. Depends on your income and expectation/ what you like. Like if you’re a country lover and have low income Frankfurt might not be it for you, know what I’m saying?

  13. Frankfurt, Freiburg, Mainz, Wiesbaden and Heidelberg.

Nothing beats the Rhein/Main and Rhein/Neckar Regions in terms of quality of life imo.

Best weather in the country, strong economy, beautiful nature all around, excellent infrastructure, cool local culture and apart from Heidelberg not overrun with tourists.

  14. I have lived in Hamburg, Magdeburg and near Berlin. Now I live in Freiburg im Breisgau and for me it’s the best city by far. It combines culture, theatre and clubs with nature and a lot of possibilities for sport. Just the perfect mix and not too big as a city. Plus it’s super bike friendly compared to other cities.

  15. Anyone appreciating that this exact picture location was actually used in the original Monkey Island?

  16. Freiburg only, if you weren’t born there… I am glad to be in another region 😉 it is very beautiful, but it’s also very small and there is a lot of chatting …

  17. Germany can only be nice to live in if you’re over 60, rich and white

  18. Im Glad nobody says Hamburg so that y’all can stay away from spamming the ausenalster (huge lake in the center of the city) and I can kayak in peace ✌️ yes yes y’all go to Muneech bährlin and frankwards pls (;
