I ordered this item in early November, the first time I've ever been stresslessly ahead on Christmas shopping and it managed to take a month and a half to get here from Turkey. An Post received it yesterday afternoon which I imagine came into Dublin and had it delivered to me in Cork by the following morning. Good pace at any time of year but especially with how busy they must be right now. ​

    Fair play to them, that is extremely impressive for something entering their system Dec 23rd.

  3. I’ve had a couple of packages delayed over the last few weeks, but everything that I’d ordered in the last 3 days expecting to arrive after new years showed up on my doorstep this morning 😂 I’d say they were working in overdrive this week, fair play to them indeed

    I ordered an item for my wife in plenty of time, then a few emails from the supplier saying that they were delayed in production. Finally it was dispatched and got tracking to say it would be delivered on the 5th of January.

    Got it on Sunday, delivered by an Post.

  6. They fucked up my sons Christmas. Main present coming from the states and yesterday I paid the duty. Postman arrived today but no present 😞

    An old school friend of mine works there and I ran into him this evening. Said hes absolutely wrecked but he loves working there

  9. My item is still being sorted since the 18th but I blame customs not anpost. So now printing out an apology letter from Santa that his main gift will be late. But all is good he has something to open and enjoy in the morning.

  11. I’ve worked nightshifts in the overflow parcel sorting centre in Baldonnel a couple of times. The amount of parcels they get through is outstanding. Especially considering that it’s done without automation in that particular venue.
    I have to also add that if it wasn’t for recently arrived immigrants they wouldn’t be able to run that centre at all. They can’t seem to get many Irish folk and many of them don’t stick out the entire season.
    Meas mór to the mainly Ukrainian and African lads and ladies keeping the show running out there.

  12. I ordered a Christmas gift on Amazon, arrived in time but when I checked it I realised they had sent the wrong product. Ordered the right one again and got a date of Dec 26th. Annoying but no bother really. Then I received it yesterday

  14. I purchased a gift online last week, the company said on Monday I wouldn’t get it until 2nd Jan 2026. Got a txt from An Post early this morning and it arrived not long after. 10/10

  15. I got a book delivered this morning expecting it to be delivered well after Christmas. Don’t think I’ve ever had any issues with A Post, fair play to the postmen and women getting everyone’s Christmas gifts delivered, it must be an absolutely mental time to work at!

    An Post never works with this level of care when I order anything. They are super fast to take the custom charges, oh yeah.

    But then, they take a week or more to deliver the item to D8. Every.Time.

  19. They were absolutely hammering out the parcels. I had similar, ordered from Greece in early November (normally takes about 9 days). It went to Germany as usual. Then to France, and stayed there for ages. But once they got it, an post turned it around in a few hours. Playing a blinder.

  20. I ordered something from New York going to Northern Ireland on 5th December. It said it would be due between 18th to 22nd. I felt well prepared. The seller contacted me on 17th to say due to unforeseen circumstances they weren’t able to process it yet so wouldn’t be able to post until at least 19th December. Fair enough. It arrived the morning of 24th december from USA. Truly insane work from Evri. Quicker than pretty much all my domestic Royal Mail parcels

  21. I ordered an item on 30th November, due for delivery by 15th December. Arrived in Ireland 4th December. An Post still havent received it. Dont know whats going on before it gets go An Post but somethings gone pear shaped.

    I’ve received everything else though, when An Post get the delivery they lash them out!

  23. Wholeheartedly agree with all the positive comments here, as a national service they’re brilliant.

    Though the trend of dropping the package and not so much as a knock on the door is disappointing.

    I’m considering buying a post box, are they still a thing?

  24. Had a similar situation myself, a gift was held up in the UK for weeks and I lost all hope of getting it before I travelled home home for christmas. It arrived the very last day I was around to receive it, An Post delivered it in double time once they got their hands on it 🙏

    In fairness I ordered a TV off Amazon UK on 7th October. Yesterday they finally admitted they wouldn’t be delivering it, I have now removed a full refund and a 400 gbp gift card for my 2 mó the of complaining daily.

Never filed any sort of forwarding address thing with An Post but the postman in my small town recognises my name and has brought me a few pieces of mail with the old address on it to my new address without me having to ask. Amazing service. I was delighted to hear they’d taken over from the hot mess that was Fastway

  33. An post saved the day for my child’s Xmas gift.
    As soon as they were part of the courier process, it was done in no time.

    Can’t say the same for evri.
    Will never order from any company that uses evri. No idea wtf is wrong with their system but it is the worst I’ve ever experienced.

  35. Haven’t ordered from Amazon in a while, but I always thought it was neat how when I was living rural a few years back they’d always estimate one or two days later than the actual date I’d get the package when it came through an post.

    Happened so consistently that if they said it’d come on the 6th, I’d be down checking at the door early in the morning on the 4th and 5th. The tracker would take a few hours to say it was delivered most of the time, so I couldn’t have it ping me.

  36. Did they deliver it to your actual address though!? I live in a fairly established estate and the past 3 or 4 weeks its crazy how many An Post packages that were delivered to a different address.the other addresses usually call me as they are worried their packages are being sent to me (they aren’t) I mean the address was plainly written there, including eircode. I know for a fact I never received a Christmas card from my parents so god knows who got that.
