TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – As the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping slows down after the holidays, one local company is encouraging the community to continue supporting small businesses through the winter.
“For every dollar that is spent here in a local, small business, it turns seven times before it leaves the community,” Owner of The Pink Pineapple, Crystal Gendusa, said. “Because we, in turn, support other small businesses and services when we need things here in our store.”
Gendusa said small businesses rely on community support to help keep the local economy flowing and to stay afloat.
“It just churns and churns and stays in our community,” she said. “It is absolutely incredible.”

According to software company Confiz, January and February are typically the slowest months for retail, with people trying to recover from holiday spending. With that, Gendusa suggests that if you are still going to shop, shop small.
“Shopping local is more than just a transaction when you walk in the door at any small business like us,” she said. “It is about the community you’re investing in, truly.”
