CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The City of Clarksburg wants to advise residents to potentially smell gas in various parts of the city during the weekend.

A public notice was issued by the city via Facebook on Friday where they announced that a gas line purging will take place around Clarksburg on Saturday as part of regular system maintenance. Residents are expected to notice a temporary natural gas smell and utility crews working around the city.

According to the city, the planned activity will be controlled and does not pose a safety risk with any odor expected to be short-lived and will dissipate quickly.

Any residents who smell a strong, persistent odor of gas in your home or business, are advised to leave the area immediately and contact your gas provider or 911 if there’s an emergency.
