OK??? People should have healthcare.
Why would anyone be outraged at people getting medical care? You deserve medical care. Migrants do too. This is not a zero sum game.
” The description said doctors would develop knowledge in areas not typically encountered in standard GP practices or even A&E settings ”
Here’s your answer as to why the higher salary.
However, if someone finds it disgusting that taxpayer GP is of lesser importance (as they typically get paid less) than those who shouldn’t even be in the country then I kinda understand. I genuinely believe people wouldn’t mind helping these people if they weren’t treated favourably.
I wish my GP had salary such as this. Would definitely motivate him to be even better than he is, but I guess because he chooses to look after people that actually pay into his salary, fuck him. No surprise Reform is on the rise
Do we provide healthcare on the British taxpayer to everyone in – insert 3rd world country here – ?
No? Do you think we should?
If not, congratulations, you now understand why people might not be happy at funding their healthcare just because they floated across the channel.
Everyone deserves health care. People who break into a country and pay nothing for it deserve it more than others.
FWIW, the company is advertising General Practioner roles at certain prisons for £135k per annum.

Here’s the actual job advert which you can read in full.

Pure treason at this point. Traitorous bastards rinsing their own people to continue with this bullshit in yet another fashion.
im of the mind we should be sending them back but ultimately im in agreement with the people being downvoted.. all humans should have a right to health while on our soil..its for this very reason we were once known as GREAT britain. and the reason the offer is so high here is probably for how dangerous the position is .. and i mean that seriously as stupid as it sounds.
“We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our team at Heathrow IRC. Heathrow IRC is based in Colnbrook, West Drayton, providing care to around 820 patients across 2 sites.
so… a private company with money already assigned to them hoping to relieve pressure on our GP’s by privately hiring someone else to provide basic medical care to 800+ ppl? Patients who most likely have a history substance misuse needs and detox. Sounds like a rather high pressure, technical job demanding “first class medical care”. Hardly comparable to a typical GP.
> Under Home Office rules, detained migrants are entitled to the same “range and quality” of NHS treatment available to the general public.
do we disagree with this?
If people aren’t being provided sufficient healthcare their health declines, this inevitably leads to MORE money being spent on them as they get transferred around, granted bail or in rare cases have their asylum cases reopened.
It’s as if ppl just want immigrants to be treated like animals, or genuinely *view* them as subhuman. It’s so bizarre how this is the state of discussion.
Absolutely idiotic to view this as a waste of money, given the impact on cost, and available beds in acute hospitals of doing nothing until someone is at death’s door, at which point you have to treat them. Like it or not (I know many of you don’t) we have a duty of care for these people. The people responsible for them are not going to stand idly by and watch them die. Imagine the fucking horror stories when a mother dies in childbirth?
Absolute false economy to suggest that providing care for these people is a waste of money. They are here, we are responsible for them, it’s ridiculous to suggest not provide medical attention.
Nice… I have been a year waiting in the application process to get into the army, but what is holding me back is medical records and tests which I cannot get done in a reasonable amount of time. Never could get a GP so I don’t really have a medical record. But it’s good to know the government would pay to house these people and give them free care when I am desperately trying to get the same thing so I can join the army… Yet I have to pay for mine and I cannot afford it right now.
From each according to ability to each according to need as intended
So what I have learnt today is that
1) OP did not read the article they posted.
2) Some people don’t understand economics or opportunity cost.
3) There are people here that want people to suffer or die and want to withhold medical treatment
And then I remembered that I pay tax for their healthcare.
Ants in a jar, ants in a jar, ants in a jar
These people should be set adrift in the Atlantic, not given healthcare. What is the UK doing?
