So what is exactly breaking?
You can be spiritual but not religious. A common move these days. Religious institutions are all about money power and control.
and yet the christian far right is in charge of the entire country
Wonder why.
Maybe it is because all the Religious leaders are turning out to be Pedos, Greedy and straight up evil to their fellow humans….
Sounds like good news to me
I don’t believe it. If anything, it looks crazier than ever. I can understand why people wouldn’t be religious, but it sure doesn’t seem to be what’s happening.
Because religion is evil. The spark of divinity is within.
Good.
Fine with me
Good. It has been the single most destructive psychosis humanity has ever suffered.
People are becoming woke. Trump likes them sleeping.
This all dates back to the Church abruptly deciding to win souls to the Devil, instead.
People are sick and tired of grifting churches and crooked religious leaders of all kinds.
I hope that this is caused by Americans perceiving the inherent evil of christian nationalism/white supremacy.
About time.
Christian organizations have noticed this and the demographic shifts, that’s why they have aligned with unscrupulous elites and the current alt right movement to force their doctrine upon us.
I’m being real I don’t know anyone that goes to church That’s adults young people kids anybody
Like realistically who goes to church sounds like a waste of a Sunday
Is this how they’re making America great?
With Trump as the poster boy for Christianity what would you expect?
Their marketing is working. They just weren’t smart enough to think through the message they were sending.
Good.
im into religion but not church
That’s because it’s run by the Anti-Christ
Anecdotally I see some people in my family becoming more religious but extremely so.
It’s not happening fast enough
Possibly, cause Trump posed with the Bible upside down??? I am surprised his hand didn’t burn just from touching it! 👺
Self-inflicted, became too political, money laundering cults
Isn’t Orange Man constantly saying they saved religion and record numbers are going to church?
Well, I mean the right wing turned religion into a weapon against Americans…
One of the reasons I think is because like everything else, religion started to feel like a disingenuous grift. People are seeking comfort and community, not a drain on their pockets, judgement and being told they’re going to hell.
Good
It’s about time
maga is the new religion. No questions are ever asked or allowed.
Christian nationalism is not a religion it’s a cult of prosecution and persecution.
I wouldn’t subscribe to organized religion until churches start paying taxes on profit. But even then, I’m not buying.
Almost like tyrant perverts using it as their club of useful followers was a bad idea.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the rampant corruption in the church, and the lack of Christianity in Christians.
THANK GOD!!! Organized religion is a scam.
Awesome!!👏
This is going to be a pretty scathing rebuke…
The rising number of “religiously unaffiliated” persons over the years is a direct response to the hypocrisy and corruption of the Church, as well as the religious fundamentalism of “Christian” conservatives and nationalists whose level of cognitive dissonance compares to no other.
This commentary addresses most of these Christian nationalists and fundamentalists, and the institutions they pay patronage to of course:
The leaders they choose to rally around and nearly everything they stand for directly contradicts the teachings of Jesus Christ.
These supposed Christians are inherently un-Christian in almost every way.
For instance, they prioritize power over principles; aligning themselves with political figures and ideologies that contradict Jesus’ teachings of meekness and service.
They also treat the poor and marginalized like vermin, showing little to no compassion towards the most vulnerable among us; even going so far as to alienate these groups of people.
They preach bigotry, xenophobia, and distrust. They urge disdain towards outsiders, foreigners and strangers.
Christian nationalists in positions of power merge their political beliefs with their religious views; advancing policies that worsen systemic inequalities and injustices.
These are policies that take from the poor to give to the rich, that devalue diversity, discriminate against out-groups and exploit the underprivileged.
They scapegoat marginalized communities of people, stigmatize immigrants and refugees, and promote racial, ethnic, social, and cultural hierarchy.
They oppose social welfare and safety nets for the poor and underserved. They protest the expansion of healthcare. They refuse to allow opportunities for the needy and disadvantaged.
With all of this in mind, remember that Jesus persistently advocated for the indigent, the outcast, the foreigner, the pauper, the sick.
Conservative “Christians” favor punishment over forgiveness. They openly support the government’s weaponization of the justice system for the purpose of political vengeance.
They endorse the Trump administration’s militarization of domestic policy and its federalization of the military and local law enforcement as a means of suppression.
Their “law and order” rhetoric is riddled with dog whistles meant to incite hostilities towards minorities, immigrants and marginalized groups.
Their harsh stances on criminal justice and capital punishment, and their disregard for due process and rights for immigrants and outsiders contradict messages of tolerance, forgiveness, love, redemption, compassion.
Their morality is selective. They overlook the ethical and moral failings of their own; ignoring concerns about corruption, greed, scandal, profligacy, depravity and lawlessness among those in power who they continue to elect.
They turn a blind eye towards the root causes of environmental degradation, socioeconomic disparities and systemic inequalities in favor of blaming these problems on their political, religious, and ideological foes.
Instead of acknowledging these deep-seated issues and their causes, they choose to focus their energy on vilifying groups of people that exist outside of a white, Christian hegemony and those who don’t adhere to their strict, heteronormative “values” and “traditions.”
Their unwavering support for Trump takes the form of idol worship, and they devote themselves to a petulant, vainglorious man who represents the antithesis of Christianity and its most basic principles.
Trump has lived a life of fraud and adultery. He is a conman, extortionist and cheater. He’s been implicated in countless crimes and corruption scandals. He obstructs and evades justice at every chance. He has a long, perverse history of sexual abuse. He is a petty and vindictive man.
Trump is a demagogue who indulges his follower’s fears and their anger. He taunts and belittles his political opponents. He is cruel and dehumanizing. He is extremely vain and obsessed with his image and ratings. He constantly uses inflammatory speech and divisive rhetoric to incite hostilities, to radicalize his supporters, and to encourage blind hatred towards his perceived enemies.
Donald Trump is the portrait of the anti-christ.
He’s also a pathological liar and narcissist; a self-serving hypocrite and greed-monger who has monetized the presidency to the tune of billions.
He embodies the opposite of humility, honesty, fidelity, compassion, austerity.
As a group, Trump and his followers defy the very idea of “love your enemies” and “turn the other cheek.”
They dedicate their efforts towards making enemies of others, enemies they despise with every fiber of their being. Their identity is founded on hate, righteous anger, mockery, antagonism, entitlement, superiority, etc…
Truth is central to Christian ethics, but Donald Trump and his supporters are documented liars—they have no commitment to the truth. They lack wits and treat the truth like it’s subjective and beholden to only their opinions and attitudes.
Trump’s followers implicitly trust the words of a crowd pleaser and false idol and they promote dishonest and often dangerous narratives, myths, rumors and conspiracy theories.
Trump brings out the worst in his supporters by holding a mirror up to them. He provokes them by pandering to their imaginary fears and their deep resentment towards others who they presume are inferior. Trump appeals to the lowest common denominator of feelings.
The religious right fuse their Christian identity and ethos with American nationalism. This is idolatrous and undemocratic.
They distort scripture and misinterpret and cherry pick the gospel however they see fit to justify their intolerance of others. Christian Nationalism is a blight on this country; it is offensive and in itself impious.
Jesus turned the tables on the Donald Trump’s of the world, but they welcome these rich, corrupt kleptocrats and modern day money changers with open arms.
Their party’s platform is inextricably linked with their religious dogma. A party that largely appeals to white supremacists, neo-nazis, hate groups, religious extremists and their endless grievances.
They are a living, breathing contradiction. They epitomize everything a Christian ought not to be.
