Who is Dhruv Amin? Indian-origin founder who scaled a $2M startup into $100M company

A mind that’s fuelled by creativity is always running, always thinking and making happen the next big thing. And when you talk about Dhruv Amin, nothing better fits the lens. Amin with another former Google employee is making headlines for shutting down a profitable startup making $2 million a year to rebuild around artificial intelligence. Now, their company is valued at a whopping $100 million.Indian-origin Amin and Marcus Lowe, both 33, are co-founders and co-CEOs of ‘Anything’, an AI “vibe-coding” startup valued at around $100 million after an $11 million funding round, as per a report by CNBC Make It. Originally, their startup was known as ‘Create’ and served as a marketplace connecting startups to freelance engineers, supported by AI tools to build apps and websites.

Who is Dhruv Amin?

Dhruv Amin, 33, is known as the founder of Anything. The Indian-origin AI wizard completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Stanford University and did his MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. In 2018, he completed his master’s in Computer Science from Stanford University School of Engineering, as per his LinkedIn. In terms of career, he worked at Google as Associate Product Manager Intern, APM and YouTube as a Product Manager. In 2018, he began his journey as an entrepreneur and founded Create and then Anything.

Why did they shut down their startup?

Create was profitable “from Day 1,” Amin told the outlet. However, after the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, the situation changed. Amin said that the product marked a surprise leap in AI capability and made them question whether human software developers would be necessary in the future. By early 2023, the duo concluded that advances in generative AI would automate much of coding eventually. This would threaten Create’s model. Thus, after months of deliberation, in October 2023, they shuttered the marketplace, laid off half of their 7-member team and cut ties with freelance developers. “Within two weeks, we were back to an empty office,” Amin recalled.

A new journey

The pair began again by launching an AI-powered tool capable of generating app components such as forms and calendars. In April 2025, they introduced a product that could build entire online businesses, including backend systems and payments, without the users requiring a coding experience. Additionally, they rebranded with a new name, Anything. “That was actually the moment where it felt like it really took off,” Amin said.Within two weeks, the company touched a $2 million annualised revenue run rate, he added. While the decision to “go back to zero” was among the hardest of his career, he believes the timing mattered. “It’s a useful founding story now: This company will stick through it, even if the technology shifts, even if the business model shifts. At the time, it was hard. Now, I can say with some pride: You don’t have to just take my word that we’re serious about what we’re trying to do here. We’ve painted it in blood, sweat and tears,” said Amin. Previously, Amin had gone viral for sharing his experience of hiring Soham Parekh, the infamous Silicon Valley engineer who moonlighted at multiple startups. At the time, he was the co-founder of Create and reflected how hiring Parekh drained his company’s time, resources and energy.
