  1. In all fairness, for most people a mandatory pension fund contribution is an excellent solution as they lack the financial capabilities or discipline to build up anything for themselves for later. But that is mostly when you have functioning governmental institutions of course, which doesn’t really work that way south of the Rhine.

Also, pensions is a financial bulldozer driving at full speed towards us, hitting European societies hard. There are only a few countries able to fulfill pension obligations.

The rest has to either reform or build up a huge national debt, which basically means the bill will be passed on the nest generation. Which is more or less what the French choose to do. But also in Germany this is going to be a massive problem. Another gift that our dear babyboomers will give to us.

  2. I don’t know how it feels for other countries but at least in the UK as a 32 year old it feels like a fucking joke that I have to pay into a pension pot so my parents can retire now knowing that to get my govt. pension I’ll likely have to work 5-10 years longer than them if I ever see a pension at all.

  3. I’d rather donate to the ponzi scheme that is run by my mediocre government than the one from some foreign pension fund managed by coked up shareholders who’ll invest my money on the next bubble (*cough cough* AI).

Fuckin hell I mean 2008 wasn’t that far! Go watch the Big Short at least, guys.

  4. Our pension system is so dumb it’s unbelievable.

Instead of putting our money in a fund where it will be invested/managed and naturally grow, we just give it to the previous investors in a ponzi-type scheme. It comes from a society where the average woman had 3 kids and we believed that every generation would be bigger than the previous one.

People who were born in the 1910-1930s got the ultra jackpot as they are on top of the pyramid.

Sometimes, I hear people say “my pension money this or that, I will get my pension…”.
Bro, your money is gone. Old Hendrik bought his second home in Torremolinos on the Costa del Sol with your money bro 😅

Also, fellow zoomers, do you really think that the Gen beta ai slop Ipad brainrot kids will be able to pay for you ?

  5. *Mine telling me its going to run out decades before I retire. Thank god for private retirement plans as back up.

  6. Older people have been stealing from me my entire life, leaving me with shit labor and housing markets. Bankrupting everything they could in the country, piling up debt like it’s free money (because I’m the one that’ll have to pay for it, not them), ruled the country into it’s second consecutive lost decade… Yet they’re still not done robbing me of my future and present, as apparently I’m a nazi for not wanting to pay most of my wage into a pension fund I’ll never see a single euro from, with beneficiaries much richer than I’ll ever be.

  7. thought I was gonna see the Sweden tag on this, considering how awful our pension fund is.
