Mississippi State women’s basketball head coach Sam Purcell filled another roster spot for the 2025-26 season with a mid-year addition from Europe on Monday. The team announced that Melissa Guillet from La Roche-sur-Yon, France, will join the team in January for the remainder of the season.
Guillet, a 6-1 guard, most recently played two seasons with Basket Club La Tronche Meylan, a team in the French Ligue Feminine 2 de Basketball. Last season, she averaged 7.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game, posting a season high of 15.
“Adding Melissa this late in the year is an awesome opportunity,” Purcell said. “She has been playing the game at the highest level, and her international experience will be huge for us as she joins the program and helps us chase championships.”
Guillet represented her native France at the international level, playing in the 2024 FIBA U18 and 2022 FIBA U16 Women’s European Championships, helping her team to victory at both tournaments.
An MSU team spokesperson told The Dispatch that Guillet will be classified as a freshman, but is expected to have three years of eligibility given her experience playing in France.
