In a stark briefing to Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov painted a picture of relentless momentum. He revealed that Russian forces had surged at their fastest pace of the year in December, while Ukrainian troops were reduced to merely stalling the advance. Over the past year, 6,640 square kilometres and 334 settlements have fallen under Russian control. Gerasimov warned that if the current trajectory continues, the Zelensky government could face collapse very soon.
