Samsung Galaxy Tab A8
It won't turn on at all. It was thrown. It has urgent legal documents and accounts crucial to me so I can't just get a new device. It was already moderately dysfunctional (Battery took forever to charge, and some minor screen cracks) but since yesterday after it was thrown it won't turn on. I brought it to Fonum and they said they don't really know. Thank you.

If it was already disfunctional all the important stuff should have long ago been backed up to another device or to some secure cloud service.Â
I hope you find a data recovery service that can access your device’s memory for long enough to copy things out.Â
Meanwhile learn the lesson for next time it happens, and keep backups of important stuff.Â
I would contact local data-recovery companies and see how much they charge for just getting you the data.
Looks like beyond point of repair, but maybe it’s possible. Still a chance the data is lost in the process, would rather just retrieve the data if you ask me.
Have you tried to connect it to a PC with cable and see if computer sees it as external storage? If not the recovery can be impossible or very expensive at least since the motherboard and other components might have been damaged
Should be able to recover the files. There are specialist recovery companies but they might cost quite a bit. I have used both Xcure and Ahlsell with good success.
Even resellers/operators like DNA or Elisa often have tools to recover stuff from semi-dead devices. Should be cheaper as well
Not very likely, but no one can probably tell based on the images alone. Just find a data recovery service and ask them
Some companies/persons can perform miracles, but how much will it cost and where to find such a miracle worker is a completely different matter. Much depends on how bad the damage actually is.
Quick googling found two hits instantly HammarData and Ahlberg Data Oy. Both mentions working on all kinds of media/data recovery.
No, but you’ll learn a life lesson for sure!
Datarecovery can handle it.
I think cheapest would be to try to find someone (repairshop) willing to open it and connect new display to it and try if it turns on. Assuming they have new display available. If it turns on, then you can on-site copy your files to memory card/usb stick.
Maybe there is a way to connect tv and usb mouse to it and you even do not need to do that much.
I imagine that data recovery companies will ask a fortune.
Have you checked from Google cloud, by default everything on your tablet is backed up.
Happened to me with a phone that was smashed and afterwards didn’t turn on. They managed to get the data out of it so I think it’s possible if you get the right shop. If you are in Turku I would recommend turun it-huolto, I was in a hurry and they managed to do it in a day for my case.
For (professional) data recovery you need at the very least the storage and CPU chips to be undamaged, solid chance that they are. It might also be possible with just a battery swap, an external keyboard and software like scrcpy.
OP, I hope you get your data back. But more importantly, I hope you are safe. If a child or you did the throwing, ok, shit happens. But if it was a partner or another adult, please know that this is abusive behavior and you shouldn’t have to experience it. Such things will typically escalate to physical violence. So stay careful, and reach out for help to the many organizations that are there for these situations (for example Nolla Linja).Â
In theory, if storage is not damaged then data definitely still is there. However, in tablets storage is soldered into mother board so It is not easy to access. Also, if data is encrypted it is more difficult.
Take it to professional. They will assess the damage and tell you what can be done.
There might be a company or a person who can take this apart and connect the storage into a adapter/some kind of middleman reader and then export it. Not sure if there is anyone in finland, I’d message/mail every possible service company.
https://ahlbergdata.fi/ perhaps?
